btc dropped 2k in no time

Never have all your eggs in one basket the saying goes. I have a lot of friends that told me BTC will go to the moon (even though I've known about it for 3 years before them), and saw them deposit 90% of their savings and lose it 3 times over.

Edit: Also not sure how much it will affect this year, but I remember a couple years ago when BTC was a little more underground under 1k, right before christmas it crashed around 20% because people would sell to buy shit. I can anticipate the same thing happening, but maybe not to the same magnitude now due to whales.

BTC has hit 16.5% of its ATH @ 20,000 in December. In Nov 2013, BTC hit an ATH of 1,200. It subsequently dropped it 200 over the next year+. 200 is about 16.5% of 1200. It stagnated at that price for around one year before rebounding back up. Just saying!

I'm saying, barring any major outside forces (stock market crash, major natural disaster, etc.), I think we're very close to the bottom. At that point, expect a long period of stagnancy (1-2 years). Then expect to see Bitcoin start gaining momentum again. 2020 should be when things start going up again, albeit slowly. I predict 2022 will be the next BTC craze.

 

During productive years of the economy sure. The cycle is due once again coming soon

Absolutely. That's the wild card here. Personally, I think since everyone is expecting a crash, we'll see something different instead. Unlike in 2008 when everything crashed, I could see a situation where the market just generally stagnates for 3-4 years. Similar to what we're seeing this year. Imagine 3-4 consecutive YoY losses on the S&P500.

I just feel too many people are expecting a sharp crash. So that means they're all waiting to jump in 2009 style. But 2008 was different, people legitimately were worried that the economy would collapse. There weren't a bunch of people licking their lips waiting to buy up a bunch of cheap equities. Not that some people didn't do exactly that, but it certainly wasn't the prevailing sentiment at the time.

Everyone and their sister is waiting with cash on the sidelines, hoping for a 30-50% crash on the S&P500, so they can jump right back in and make big money. Because it's so heavily predicted to work out this way, it can't possibly happen the way people expect it to.

 

My advice is don’t invest in it for the next 5 years

Crypto will slowly start to rise that hike up and the hype was basically media related and somebody probably rich guys paid for a big media campaign in order to create hype then dump all there stored crypto in the market and escape with there profits. Now Bitcoin will slowly rise as any country does after a long recession it will slowly start to regain it's value. won't reach 20k anytime soon tho.
