Not the current cost to mine, I meant the overall energy to produce all bitcoins in existance. So if the first bitcoin cost .0001 BTC to mine you would need to aggregate the running average over the cost of mining since the begginging.

People are looking at the last few weeks and thinking that crypto is doomed or something, the rate in which everything rocketed in price in December wasn't good and a market correction was due. Crypto currency is definitely the future, I can personally see BTC around $15-30K+ in 1 year. Everyone saying BTC will be worthless or $50 are people that have $20 in savings.

    Average mining cost = $6

Don’t see it falling below for various other reasons

Would like to get your thoughts on this

Bitcoin in its 10 years has never fallen below the mining price

The costs associated with creating an object does not give it an inherent value. I can spend $10k in supplies building a statue of @Blaze 's penis. That does not mean the statue generates a $10k value.

So you think people are going to continue mining bitcoin for a loss? I'm sure if your business was making statues of @Blaze 's penis that cost you $10,000 to make and people were buying them for $12-15K you'd continue making them, however if people were offering you $7-8k so you'd be making a loss you'd stop making them. If you stop making them demand goes up price goes higher. People mine Bitcoin as a business, not as a fan club for peoples penis

Well first off, not all coins traded are coins being mined. However, I’m just trying to state that at no point in bitcoin’s 10 year history has the price fallen below the average cost of mining 1BTC.

The post above says $6 but it is suppose to say $6k so my bad.

@johncx i see where you are coming from. I’m not trying to argue that because there is a mining cost, it has inherent value at that cost, because that cost can change and not call coins being traded are newly produced coins.

That being said there is reason to believe and 10 years of evidence that shows that’s bitcoin has never fallen below the average cost to mine BTC, and if it does then miners will not sell and we would certainly here about that.
