Boston Marathon 2013 Bombing

He's not saying the bombings were right or that it's not a tragic thing to happen. Part of events like these is understanding the minds of those who did it. They chose a time and place where only a few people were killed, and most were injured badly instead. Do you think the FBI are in their HQ feeling sorry for the victims? Or are they discussing why the bomber(s) decided on that, relatively low-key area to set the bomb off, why this event in particular, what bomb was used and the particular model of bomb's advantages.. and such like. The latter, you'd think.

It may seem harsh to think that way, but it is a good point - there were more populated areas that the bomb could have been placed, so why wasn't it?

I don't think he was condoning what's happened in any way, merely attempting to evaluate the person behind it.

 

Why don't you re-read my comment directed towards him. It was aimed towards his deplorable statement of lack of care for human life. It is the fact that he had the nerve to post such a sociopathic reply that made me upset. Next time read more carefully.

I know what you are saying, but the way Almond_Joy stated his reply did not give off any sense of what you said. Take it as you may, but my impression of his reply was that he did not care that people died or were injured. Instead he proceeded to advise to bomb a bigger group that would result in more casualties. This is what I perceived his comment to be and I'm sure I am not the only one who saw it this way.

 

I would totally say only less than 10 people died in that incident which is like... 0.0000000000000000000000001 of the US population.

 

I think we don't care when people die in the middle east from bombing is just because we can't culturally relate to them.

No, but your approach to these deaths is completely heartless and offensive. You have to realize most people in the U.S. are less informed about any bombings going on in the middle east compared to ones that happen within our nation. Clearly your attitude to this problem is basically "If I didn't die or anyone I know didn't die, then it's not my problem."

 

It may seem heartless but it is kind of true. You may be sad for the victims for a short period of time but after a few days or a week you really don't care much anymore. There is so much death in this world you just get numb to it. Its kind of hard to stay sympathetic for someone you have never met, seen or talked to in your life.

 

Americans care more about Americans because we're Americans. Don't hate on people for acting like they are programmed to.

 

If thats the case, what about world events such as earthquakes and tsunamis happening in other countries and don't forget about kony 2012.

Pressure cooker bombs are popular in white supremacist groups as well. The plans to make them can be found on several pages including rebel, terrorist and supremacist groups. If a terrorist group such as Al-Qaeda was incolved the bombs would have been much larger and the damage much worse. People really need to stop thinking it was Islamists involved when it hasn't been proven if it was.

I read the article and even though they say they aren't sure who is responsible they are implying it was an Islamic extremist.

Kony wasn't big at all other than people liking shit on Facebook. Very few natural disasters end up in the news. Only the biggest ones that end up killing thousands. If the scale is large enough, and it isn't a war zone, we might care more.

Exactly ^, people in the U.S. mainly hear about large scale events that occur, not small ones such as random bombings in Iraq. It's hard to care about an event your unaware of compared to all the ones we are that are happening in the U.S.
