Well yeah, but i figured i would give a broader view of it.

 

I still wouldn't be worried though. Private servers aren't harming Jagex's profits enough for them to spend hundreds of thousands of dollars taking some kid in a different country to court because he spent his allowance on a VPS and downloaded a random private server source. How much money are they going to get as a result of a lawsuit against a minor with no money?

 

how does jagex get information on these servers ??

however how they got his runescape account name, i'm not sure.

 

If there filing a DMCA against there not going to sue you or want to 95% of the time they just either want you to remove it or buy it which in this case you cannot and they will never be able to shut down all the servers as it would cost millions plus more would be made and i wonder if any classic servers will be shut down?

 

Bogdan sounds like a Russian name and Stakins sounds German. Anyway, yeah I hear a lot of shit going on with the private servers.

 

Ive had JaGeX contact both my forums provider and quick URL provider, the got rid of my .co.nr but I alreayd ahd bought a .com so far they have contacted me through somone else twice but im not really worried.

Taking down private servers does not cost Jagex anywhere near millions of dollars, for the idiots who keep saying that, stop.

Secondly, just because your some broke kid doesn't mean you can't get sued or that they can only sue you for what you have. It's called parents or legal guardians and then after that it's called debt.

So just because you might only have $5 doesn't mean Jagex can only sue you for $5. I'm trying to put that in the simpliest words possible, do you understand it now? Good.

 

This is the first time I've seen Jagex take such serious actions against private servers.

 

theyve taken serious action before they just havent publicized it quite like this. its not exactly like jagex blatenly posts everywhere when they take a site down, its done behind the scenes. to the guy who said they always threaten but never do anything, you dont even have a clue. just becuz they dont post it on the first page on rs doesnt mean it doesnt happen regularly

Wow, when I saw his name on the thread title I thought it was some 1337 hacker or something. Anyway, I don't blame Jagex for taking action against people who are stealing their work. (Especially if they are using it to make money)
