I'm aware sythe is not full of the jocks and such, but still interested in all of your opinions.

If you were best friends with a beautiful girl and you were pretty sure she only wanted to be best friends (and she likes you a lot, just doesn't want to go out or a relationship or anything) what would you do?

Would you:

A) Continue being best friends so as to not ruin the bond you already have
B) Try to get into a relationship with the risk of ruining the friendship
C) Stop being friends with her because it's too hard to be just friends
D) Other

If she does not want to be your girlfriend then keep her as a best friend. If you push her you could make it where she gets fed up with it, and quits being your friend overall.

I don't know what that comment about jocks is supposed to mean... 0_o

From a JOCK'S perspective (:P), I would say that you should consider her feelings and stay friends, because, best friends are forever, and girlfriends (most of the time) only last for a while. However, I would say that you should never forget your feelings and always be open to the fact that, if she likes you, your friendship may someday evolve into a relationship.

Yeah that's my fear.

That's basically what I'm doing now. But it's just a dream.

If she likes me as well, i'd choose B mainly because i wouldnt want her without someone else.

However if thats not the case, i would wait till i am older 20+ and sort this out.

Nothings better than being able to play an adult romance in real life.

Lost my bestfriend because I tried to start a relationship...I regret every bit of it.

Thin line and very hard to do. I have jumped out of the friendzone, it is very stressful, hard work. My now girlfriend, used to date some lame pothead and now she is with me, took about one year of work. We were bff's oh how I hate that term.

First, change your self image, be confident, cool and collective. Do not tell her your feelings right away. Dress nice, smell nice. Be the alpha.

If you would like to talk about this with me over msn here it is [email protected] , I think I would be of great help, seeing as I have done this my self.

And to answer your first question: Love is worth any risk.

Yeah well for me, if she's happy with someone else then I'm glad. I just wish it was me.

Exactly... I will regret it if I lose a best friend.

1 of my friends had this dilemma, although she wasn't his best friend, they were really close friends.
I encouraged him to just ask her out to the movie or something to see what she says. They both had a great time, however he was still not sure whether she thought it was a 'date' or just hanging out. I then asked him what she was wearing and she said a very nice dress. This suggests that she wanted to look good for him as opposed to the 'where just hanging out' After that among other things I told him that she probably likes you and to just ask her out.

She accepted and they're now even closer.

Here's a tip I'll give you.

When you talk to her look into her eyes and watch her pupils (the black in the middle of your eye) Do her pupils dilate (get really big) when she looks/talks to you?
If yes it's a strong indicator that she likes what she sees, basically she finds you attractive.

If her pupils don't dilate then it can also mean a whole list of other things but just try that one out.

If she's truly your best friend even if she says no, it won't change your friendship status much. I would DEFINITELY NOT recommend C.

Just ask her out, chances are even if she says no you won't feel that embarrassed as she won't make a scene of it.

My advice is for you to tell her how you feel, if she says she doesnt feel the same way the worst that could happen is an awkward week after you tell her but she'll get over it and continue to be your friend.

That way you'll still have her as a friend if the relationship doesn't work out, but if it does then well you got a beautiful girlfriend.

That's not how girls work mate...

Back on to thread. My advice to you would be try and stay friends, but you can always play the "joke" asking out. Sit in and watch a movie with her, girls like to cuddle up during movies and she will get closer to you. After the movie has ended say something like "well now we have watched a romantic movie are we girlfriend and boyfriend?" (even if it wasn't a romantic movie) if you say it after a romantic movie it's a bit better as she will be more likely to think it's a joke.
Wait for her reply (if she doesn't just say "well are we?") If she says no then you get the point and say something on the lines of "Aaaaww they were my best moves" this should make her laugh and make her realise once again you are joking. If she says yes then there is a possable chance she is just going a long with the joke, so tell her to give you a kiss (if she says no pretend it was a joke again) if she does then try and take it a tiny bit further and hope for the best.

What do you mean? I bench press 180 lbs :D

I'd say you only live once man, go for option B. If you really like her, the risk is worth the reward if it works out, if it doesn't then you can ALWAYS revert back to a friendship if you're a good person. I've had many friends become lovers and then exes and friends again. Just remember to take it slow, make sure she's comfortable, and show her that you're still her best friend as well as her lover. Listen to her, treat her well, and you'll be all set :D

Some great advice, I'll check the dilation soon haha. Thanks man.

Continue being her good friend. And if you play your chips correctly she may become your gf at a later date.

Hopefully!

Risky, but you have a valid point.

I like this idea. I'm gonna try it. I'll let you know how it goes!

I agree I only live once :(

Ask her out, you will feel better.

:/

B, if you really like her. Life is really too short and sometimes you just have to take (sensible) risks.

True, very true.

Well, I just went through this with my best friend, except it went the wrong way and became friends with benefits.

In all honesty, every situation is unique. You need to go with your gut feeling.

Probably because you didn't test her by asking for a kiss :p
