[Approved]Retire the promote button

Hi,

If you didn't know, there's a button where you can "promote" your own threads. This opens the Sythe sub-reddit.

Now here's why we want to remove that:

• The sub-reddit is dead. The last post was 3 months ago.
• It exposes users who use a single Reddit account also on the 07 reddit, or so and might enable doxing.
• Why would anyone go to that obscure subreddit to try and browse it for deals instead of using Sythe? I can assure you, the activity in that subreddit is only in relation to self promotion, not actually from buyers.

No point in keeping it. I don't think anyone browses it to try and look for random RS offers anyways.
If you want to be fancy, make it post on Discord instead. But this is just not working.


I understand that they are most likely for SEO. But how much traffic do they really drive to Sythe?

Support. I've never been on the subreddit but I've never heard of anyone using the button..

 

I think this no longer works because the integration with reddit no longer works? (not sure, but I do know integration with twitter doesn't work anymore)

 

Yeah uh I def agree w/ that. "Promote" should probably link to the discord ANYWAYS if it did still stick around, but now it's... just linking to a dead Reddit?

I'm in full support of this, or some alternative that changes it up. It either needs an update or to go for sure. Good point bringing it up!

Maybe take away from reddit and find another use for it such as Sythe members being able to use their Sythe gold to some how reflect their topic using "Promote".
