[approved] Stop allowing websites promoted on sythe to false advertise

Recently I posted this report - resolved

for context to anyone that doesn’t want to read it it is a report where a user that joined sythe this year and has only one vouch uses a banner on sythe that brings you to a gold selling website where they claim they are trusted by over 10,000 customers, this is most likely false advertising as they have one sythe vouch and no clear evidence of involvement in other online marketplaces.

the post was ‘resolved’ as according to the current sythe rules you are allowed to false advertise as long as the false advertising is not being done in the thread itself, yet the places the false advertising is done on can promote it on sythe?? this rule is currently very flawed as I can promote a website or discord server on sythe and then proceed to false advertise on it, imagine gold websites claiming (zero bans ever occurred!) or a botting website claiming similar things. There are many more examples I could give of how this can be abused

why change this rule?

this allows users the ability to gain a very unfair advantage currently as anybody that actually follows the rules and doesn’t false advertise on their discord servers/websites does not get to make the same false claims people like the perpetrator I reported can.

why is this okay? The current false advertising rule should also be extended to websites and discord servers promoted on sythe through the use of banners, thread posts etc. as the way this rule currently stands users can use sythe as a platform to promote the avenues they are going to false advertise on.

 

I agree with everything you say. I’ve seen multiple sketchy sites being advertised either by banners or blatantly in threads. Usually by newcomers or something like that. Most Sythe could do would be ban them. Good suggestion imo

that is understandable, it can be on a case by case basis, in certain cases where things are blatantly obvious why let someone hide behind the current rules?

 

We allow the sale of products gained from the means of blackhat (such as twitch primes) to go unpunished when it happens offsite. Do you believe that this advertising thing is worse?

 

in this instance i would say this is actually worse because although those twitch primes may be frowned upon it is a trade both users agree upon between each other and if the users were scamming each other they would be banned from this platform rendering the banners and false advertising useless once they are removed from sythe.

In this instance of the way and what coin4rs is false advertising it can be worth noting that the way they are false advertising is aiming to decieve users into trusting them and thinking they are a longstanding user in this type of market. (10,000+ Customers) yet one sythe vouch and a very recent join date?

It's quite suspicious to me when someone is trying to possibly lie with the intentions of doing it to make you trust them more. I consider things like this far worse than a trade of some twitch prime codes between two users who both are most likely aware of what they are getting themselves into. (Assuming theres no similar ill intentions of what caused me to make this suggestion in the first place)

 

Unless you are going also crack down on false advertisement on Sythe first such as people using the word "CHEAPEST" or "FASTEST" I don't support. Seems like a waste of energy.

 

Timing is everything too. It takes time to fake vouches if they are clearly online and ignoring site staff that should be a fair excuse. Just wait for them to post or something and get their attention then hit em with the "BTW, i see you have some vouches can I see them"
