[Approved]No more private reports

I've been told multiple times I have to make a thread to get someone banned. Me being a 12 year old member without any history of scamming, or lying to staff and some might say a pretty good track record for all the years I've been here could not make one. Yet someone who has had 20+ scam reports, and known as a liar/ twisting things into his favor was able to make one.

I was banned unfairly because staff "team" took up a private report but when it was mentioned to other staff members the ban got reversed. I sat for close to a week still banned for it because staff was not on the same page because it was handled privately. I asked and bothered a few times to be unbanned. Yet no one would unban me. If this was a report thread made on Sythe.org I feel none of this would have even happened.

If not ALL members can make a private report then why can some? Why are some reports even handled privately? Why are certain staff members advocating and acting as lawyers for someone when their whole purpose is to bring transparency, isn't this why the rule for making private reports disallowed made in the first place?

"Going forward we will not be allowing private reports. Staff will not adjudicate cases in private. If there is sensitive information such as RSNs/names/ID's/Etc you can reply to your thread with the information and delete the post to hide them."

Private reports should not be handled at all. The person being accused of something may not even know what was going on to properly defend themselves. It causes problems and is more time consuming for staff to get on the same page. I feel a good reason why some are made private is because the person reporting knows how that certain staff member is going to handle it. I've seen multiple times on reports where people ask for certain staff members to handle it and they are told that they can't request that. So why are private reports even handled?

 

Support, private supports are open for abuse and bias by nature. Also I’d like to take this spot to say free gucci.

Coming from a nuetral place, I've seen staff handle not only reports in private but they'll go as far handling their disputes privately as well. It's really appearent how a staff member acts when he sees his friend in trouble. Can't do anything else except meme some more; post below

 

Honestly I 100% agree, this biased shit is annoying. Either make up your mind & allow it or don’t.

 

Staff does a good job and really the best they can do.

Staying consistent is really important. If they say no private reports then that should mean NO PRIVATE REPORTS.

Idk I’ve seen reports turned down because they were posted as private. Before the ruling, it seemed as though almost half the reports were private reports. The only major one that comes to mind recently was Majora’s and that was a month ago. Could have contained sensitive info that was used to catch him that they don’t want other shady people to see how he was caught? I’m not sure

 

@Dunworry i agree, that they have improved, but it needs to be a matter of its allowed or not. Dank had a private report on him done recently which resulted in his ban. Where is this report? At least they can make them public afterwards? I wouldn’t mind private reports personally, other than it wouldn’t be as fast for the word to get around if they were public

 

There are some reports which were handled privately after the ruling, even some disputes.

The staff team has a thread for complex or bans without reports, additionally in times where safety is a concern the staff use their judgement to give a ban without a required report. (ie if r2pleasent messaged me and said to ban @Dank and there's a report coming I'd trust him as an ex staff member/trustworthy individual)

Those exceptions are ok, but beyond that the users should be required to make a report (they are allowed to delete private information in that report). If this is not the case I'd suggest talking to a higher staff member than the one who banned you without a report.

 

Alright, you atleast agree that you don't follow rules. He is your 'exception'. What about gun's ban dispute handled privately? didn't see a report. If everyone gets an exception then trash the rule lol. Don't put a general rule and act higher than it (you in general, all staff).

 

That report should have been made public with sensitive information removed, I apologize for that. It was not fair treatment.

@Tyler is correct that "private reports" still come about on occasion usually because staff notice something about a user or someone sends a dm to staff that someone scammed them or is being shady without creating a full report, we don't want to discourage that. The information in those instances is always posted in the staff lounge and shared in ban disputes or posted in a separate scam report.

Moving forward we will all do a better job of not allowing private reports, thank you for the thread
