Make spam reports public again

Since the release of Xenforo, regular users haven't been able to look at past reports. I feel like this was an extremely useful feature for multiple reasons.

• You can see what a moderator responded to your report (most moderators don't even reply now).
• You can see which moderator handled your report (this would be useful in case you need to reply to them or have extra information about a recent report you made).
• You can see what other people report, I find this very useful, I've been able to find multiple ban evaders Skype address through a reported post of someone else, another example would be adding extra information to an existing report, let's say previously you'd see someone reporting a "scam report" with additional info, you'd be able to counter that immediately by just responding to said report.
• It's nice to be able to communicate with moderators this way.

All in all, I don't think it would be too much effort to get reports back in "thread format" and it would please a lot of people. Thoughts?

Yeah support to this sometimes I'm unsure exactly what I reported as I make quite a few. (Seems as thought only the thread title appears atm.) If you were able to click the report and maybe see the quote along with the mod and his response things would be clearer.

 

You've probably seen my post. This definitely should be fixed. The current report notification is completely useless I don't even use it anymore.

 

We should definitely go back to a system similar to what we had in VB3 if it's possible (@Matthew @Sythe)

Gracious's third point is very true. Anything that helps cut down on the number of scammers should be seen as a plus and should be made a priority.

 

The new alert system does nothing for reports. Literally all you can see is if it was approved or denied. You can't even click on the thread title to see the changes. If you care enough you have to manually look up the thread you reported.

Yeah support, I think moderators don't reply now because they no longer get Postcount(?) if I recall correctly, I could be wrong though.

But I do think this is an asset to the site, not a liability.

 

I used to support this and I still will, but I've noticed the downside aswell. As @Shin is able to confirm I have been reporting posts of people I really like aswell. The downside of them being able to see the report is what might make me feel bad. I just don't want them to think bad about me once I reported one of their posts, because it would make me sad if someone I like would report one of my posts and I were able to know this. Despite this, I'm supporting this, because it has more advantages than disadvantages.

 

You could always just pm a mod or message them on Skype if you need to report someone you're friends with. (Or you can just say "who needs friends?!" like @PureAddiction and @Gracious did a few months ago jk jk)

 

Everyone, even your friends, have to respect Sythe's ruling and therefore you shouldn't feel bad when reporting their posts.

Any more feedback / thoughts on how we could possibly even improve it?

 

This report system is amazing for moderators, so if there is a way to do this in addition to the current system I'd be fine with it. If it's going to change the report system to the old one I'm not going to be supporting it :0

Was fun reading the mod's comments on the reported posts

 

The mod's can still send comments, just in a bit of a weird way. We have the option to send a notification (which should be automatically sent). We also have a chatbox where we can send you a message that you will see in the alert system

 

For those that aren't aware, the report system in Xenforo is completely different to the one that was utilised in vB3. I'm not too sure of the logistics, but going back to the "Old Way" may not even be possible in Xenforo. This new system has a lot of features that make it a lot better compared to the old way, albeit I don't know if saying them would count as leaking or not.

Regardless, I do understand the importance of having a response. I leave a comment on all of my reports, but I know that the alert doesn't do a lot. If it can be tweaked to allow a PM to be sent back the the user I'd support that, but Matthew and Sythe have so much left on there to do lists, that I can't see a major rework being completed for a long time.

Thanks for your comment, I completely understand that the way it is now is a lot easier for moderators, instead of reversing it, we should opt to add additional features to the current system so it stays as smooth as it is now for you moderators and we'd still be able to see what other people report/what mods respond etc. This obviously wouldn't be implemented right away since - like you said - Sythe/Matthew have alot left to do right now so this would be a future thing.

I'd like to hear from @Sythe and @Matthew what's actually possible regarding this feature, and what they would be willing to add before discussing this further.

That's not what I'm suggesting here - read my third point.

 

I did read it, I'm asking, do you guys receive notifications when your reported post has been handled? All staff should be ticking the 'send notification' icon.
