Ahmed Mohamed Bomb Hoax

This guy brings a bomb hoax to school September 14th & gets invited to the UN, White House, Facebook's & Google's HQ in Silicon Valley, and an internship at Twitter.

 

Did they really say he's on a TOUR? This is getting out of control. He shouldn't have been arrested, and he shouldn't be getting all this excessive attention.

 

He shouldn't have stoked the fire. Whether you're white or not you're suspicious if you bring a suit case with a time displayed on it and yeah if it goes off in class you deserve to get brought in. Just my 2c.

 

At most, it was a kid trying to show off that he built a clock. He didn't build or construct it, it's a manufactured clock taken out it's casung and put in a DIY casing.

Shouldnt hae been arrested in any case.

 

This is the most asinine thing ever. It got totally out of hand... Now everyone is making him out as some kind of hero because they think that he was judged by his name, skin, religion maybe?

 

They're sort of making up for their point-blank racism. Anyone that's against him receiving all of the stuff is simply jealous. Yeah sure maybe it got out of hand but why shouldn't a company have the right to gift him?

 

No they have every right to give him shit. The thing is they are turning it into a publicity stunt. That is something that I don't appreciate, personally.

 

Depends imo. If he brought it as a means of trying to scare other people, he deserves to be arrested. In any fashion, he brought something that was intended to look like a bomb. If you bring an airsoft gun to school, and just flash bits of it so that it looks like a real gun, you'll likely get arrested.

No one thought that. Arresting him was ridiculous.

 

No one ever thought it was a bomb. A bomb hoax was reported to the police, which you can still be arrested for.

 

I feel like every article reports this differently. Some say he was doing it as a hoax, some say it was a project or "creation."

Personally from his "attention-needing" attitude I've seen on the interviews I think he did it as a hoax for attention and therefore deserved what he got. If he didn't then he didn't deserve what he got.

Either way, getting flown around for ripping the inner workings of a clock is silly.

 

I feel the same, I've not read much into this, but it seems to be portrayed differently in every other article.

Wasn't it an internship with Nasa or something similar?

I don't believe he should be getting highly treated because of it like that at all.

From what I've heard he's apparently intelligent hence all these big established businesses, companies, others inviting him etc.

they went overkill with this and are making news out of anything. i do like that video and agree with his points. shouldn't of got arrested, but it shouldn't be this big of a deal where he's going out tours lol

Ahmed's father is a fairly outspoken activist against Islamophobia, and has been in the news on several other occasions for similar events (most notably when he "represented" the Quran in a mock trial - the Quran ended up being burned, resulting in the deaths of dozens overseas in the ensuing riots). In my eyes, it's fairly obvious that this whole situation was orchestrated by his father (there have been other incidents where Ahmed has claimed to have been discriminated based on his religion, been called "ISIS boy", and been told he was not allowed to pray in school, and I don't doubt that he was instructed to do these things to try to bait a possible reaction out of the school administration) in the name of fighting Islamophobia. Just looks like to me that it finally worked this time. Not denouncing this in any way (if it were to be true), but I just find the whole situation kind of ridiculous.
