A Few MISCONCEPTIONS about Firefox

Internet Explorer is a 100 times better than Firefox. While I am writing this argument, please note that I am not using a 5 GHz Dual Core computer with 2 GB of RAM and 1 GB of video memory. I’m using a normal, Toshiba, laptop. I’m not talking about the new, cheesy “Internet Explorer 7″, I’m referring to Internet Explorer 6.

To start things off, Firefox takes too long to start up. On the other hand, on my ordinary computer, when I hit the Quick Launch button for Internet Explorer, it instantly appears! I seriously can’t wait for 20 seconds for, not an imaging program, but a Web-browser to show up.

Secondly, people say that Firefox has less system requirements than Internet Explorer. I have to call bullshit on that.
Lets see… the Mozilla Firefox requirements are as follows:
Firefox Minimum Hardware

233 MHz CPU
64 MB of RAM
50 MB of free disk space
Windows 98

…and now for the Internet Explorer requirements:

486/66 MHz CPU
16 MB of RAM
11.5 MB of free disk space
Windows 98

Strange, isn’t it? Firefox needing more requirements than Internet Explorer? ZOMG!
I hate to say it, but face it. Mozilla Firefox sucks. Every poor misguided fool is going to regret using it, one day. I suggest that everyone ditches that shit and goes for either Internet Explorer or Opera (if they want correct CSS displaying in their browsers).

I’m not saying Internet Explorer is good. I’m just saying that Internet Explorer beats Firefox at starting up, and system requirements. It freezes quite a lot, too, just like Internet Explorer. Extensions mean nothing, and neither do themes.

Extensions being safe? I think not.
Over 90 extensions have been found to collect data and uniquely identifying users without notifying them.

Myth - "Firefox is Faster than Internet Explorer 6" - Example

Reality - Internet Explorer 6 is clearly faster than Firefox 2.x in 5 out of 7 measures of performance and is significantly faster from a cold start. - Source

Notes - The argument that components of Internet Explorer may load during Windows Startup is nullified by Opera's start times. Which means there is no excuse for this except poor coding on Firefox's part.

 

Firefox is more helpful for seeing in my opinion, while the writing is small on servimg.com Firefox makes it a bit bigger

 

You can also do the same function in Internet explorer, all you have to do is hit "CTRL" and scroll using your mouse or touchpad.

 

Yes but what about security, and extensions?
Firefox clearly beats IE in BOTH categories.

Why should i care about this shit? FireFox works perfect for me so no reason for me to care about shit like that.

 

IE = virus magnet. Visit one vulnerable site, and you will instantly get your computer filled with viruses. This won't happen with Mozilla (trust me, i've tried some websites on both) Also, IE is extremely slow for me if you compare with Firefox.

IE way too many vulnerabilities, which you forgot to mention. Those articles are all biased.

I think the biggest concern with IE is security. IE will get you raped on the internet. Some of the sites i go to i would not go in windows, let alone IE.

FyI, I use Firefox for linux and it is a hell of alot better than IE or FireFox for Windows. More stable, faster, better profile management, etc.

Firefox prolly takes forever to load cause you have a bloated install of windows.

 

exactly Seyton. I'm using Linux as well, and Firefox is fast as hell.

 

My Windows XP install uses up 1 gigabyte of my Hard-drive.

Security? IE's phishing filter is rated a LOT higher than Firefox's.

 

I don't think IE needs anything, i think windows should die.

And when i say bloated install im not talking about how much hd space your install takes up. How many processes are running, you have windows blinds installed? you using a homebrew app for themes? Is it pro, home, media xp? You say your on a laptop so your probably running proprietary software for function keys and other things to "utilize the functionality of your laptop" LOL.

Im not anti IE, im anti Windows.

 

Firefox prevents viruses. And it is faster from my experience. And i love the add ons. 'Nuf said.

 

You're anti Windows? I'm anti Linux. Let me guess, you are using Ubuntu? I suggest you ditch that shit before you die of boredom. I have a tablet PC, but I used XP Pro so that it does not use extra CPU to detect the input of my Tablet. I use MSStyles, not Windowblinds, as in my Uxtheme.dll is patched and I use a native theme.

Ubuntu sucks ass. You can't do shit on it. I suggest you download a Windows XP ISO, install it, and catch up on what your missing out on.

 

See, you have to modify Windows core files in order to make it appealing. All those settings can simply be modified in Linux. In Linux you can at least get some control on your computer. Oh, and Ubuntu is for amateurs. OpenSuSe ftw!

 

Lol first mistake, you assumed im using Ubuntu. I am not, i use openSuSe 10.2 and im about to upgrade to Gentoo. Btw, i can do almost anything in linux you can do in windows, even run IE...

 

correction Sayton: you can do ANYTHING with linux that you can do with windows. The only difference is, linux handles it better. The one and only con with linux is game compatibility.
