I noticed there wasn't a 2012-theory debate yet, and i wanted to hear your thoughts on this. I heard about it from a friend, and it seems pretty interesting.

In a mayan prophecy, the year 2012 will be the end of an earth's cycle.
mayans used this time table:

a kin is 1 day
a tun is 360 days
a katun is 20 tuns = 7200 days
a baktun is 20 katuns = 144.000 days
a World is 13 baktuns = 1872.000 days divided by 365,25 you get 5125,26 years.

5125,26 times 5 is 25.628 years

in 21 december 2012, it will be exactly 25.628 years ago the mayans started using this timetable.
The Mayans believed we will not only enter a new world, we would enter a new world cycle.
The Mayans described 21 december 2012 as a turn in the way we think and act. We would become a more conscious world, a world in which technology and science would meet spirituality. We would enter the 4th dimension.




i find this theory very interesting, and i find it very sad that there are so many sources on the internet, of which 99% isn't reliable. Alot of people grab this oppurtunity to gain attention by shouting that this is the acopolyps.

It's really interesting, and plausible..UNTIL you read into it and find out that the reason their calendar stopped at the time it did is because their number system only went that far, and it restarts when it gets to that point.

I don't think it will happen, Although the mayans have been right about alot of other stuff. Did you know Nostradamus also predicted 2012? He was an french seer who got almost everything he predicted to come true too.

 

I sometimes wonder about this. I don't think the end of the world is coming, however. I think he's trying to say we will enter a higher level of conciseness.

If so that would be cool.

 

I personally don't believe in predictions. I believe the world changes due to our actions. We have a choice, the choice makes the future.

 

I don't quite exactly know what to post here, other than it may or may not be true. I watched a video on 9/11 and it had tons and tons of logical theorys about those people, and how lots of signs pointed to what was going to happen, or I guess did happen. They labled/predicted lots of events that have happened such as 9/11. It took a bit of research, but it has all lead up to it.

If everything they've plotted/predicted has actually happened, why wouldn't that? It could also be a ton of lies, I'm sorry I don't have a source.

Anyways, the poles will shift, maybe, but I'm not even sure, a few minior earthquakes that -may- give someone a heart attack.

 

If it happens that day I'm going to get stoned out of my mind so it feels like a bad dream and not real. I'm pretty sure it's going to happen that day because you got the Mayans who predicted it from Central America, then Nostra Daumus from France who predicted it, then the book the Eey Ching (don't think I spelled it correctly) made by the Asians that also predicts the fall of everything in 2012, so it's not only the Mayans, it's people all over the world in different periods of time who predict it and that's why I think there's a high chance of it happening.

 

there is/was a thread on this already. anyways the world won't end because humans say so, we're just animals with bigger brains then other species.

 

That day is going to be so fun. I mean, there's going to be people scared as fuck, and then there's going to be people like me just laughing.

Ah, one day that I'm actually looking forward to.
