there is no point of death penalties, whhy kill the person that killed others? instead of letting them off easy, make them sit in a cell 24/7 with nothing to do but count the bricks in their cells for the remainder of their lives.
Alot of good points.
However when there's good points on one side, there's usually the same on the other side of the debate.
Also, (as nearly every American sythe member does) your forgetting this law is inexistent in half the rest of the globe. Try and be a bit more globally interactive on Sythe. I wish people would. I'm English and I try to.
Anyway, back to topic.
It's a hugely debated subject, but I do personally believe capital punishment should be legal in the cases of MURDER.
I'm not religious, but the Old Testament's theory,
'an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth', is a very good one, suggesting a crime should be paid back with the same crime to the wrongdoer.
If a murderer is dead, it makes the victims families satisfied, the general public satisfied and removes a possible threat from society.
However, if the 'wrongdoer' is punished too rashly, and it is the wrong man, that has a devastating effect on just about everybody.
Also, the death penalty could be a happily welcomed release for a person who would rather die than rot in jail, which is a negative, as criminals should suffer.

Hey, most of you all have great ideas, lets let someone kills someone, then serve 5 years for murder, PROVEN murder, since they dont get a life sentance and all, and then come back out, kill more people, lather rince repeat. I say kill their asses or put them in jail for life. If not life, 200 years, fuck em. You think they dont deserve to have a life taken, when theyve already taken one themselves?
You see, when a person takes a life, it changes nothing about them. They are not officially "scum", or "worthy of being killed".
When you execute somebody, you are killing them in a premeditated fashion. This is murder, sanctioned by the state.
I think thats very true , but those who have messed up the lives of others , or even worse , taken them , deserve to see how it feels.
Why do they "deserve" it? Surely they are being punished to remove their harmfulness from society?

I fell that if you kill sum1, unless its in self defense, than yur life is forfeited, u dont deserve to live if your goin to senselessly take sum1s life, jail is too good for any1 who murders. an example sumone kills a family member yur tellin me u wouldnt want them dead, u would rather them live there full life?
Again, why do you "not deserve" to live? Does killing them help the victim's family in any tangible manner? And have you also indicated that you believe that people guilty of manslaughter should die?
its hard to say. Keeping some1 in prison for the rest of there life is a horrible punishment. But killing the killer brings relieve to some ppl. I couldnt stand to be in jail for a day lol.
Keeping people in prison is also wrong but the biggest problem is the death penalty. us as humans should and don't have the Authority to detirmine when one's life should end or begin. It is up to our lord or for you athiests up to our destiny and the death penalty is not a destiny.

If there is proof 100% you commited a very very bad crime eg. blowing up a bus etc.. then you should get the death penality.

I believe it was George W Bush and his brother, that signed off on the most death penaltys than any other state in America.
I don't see anything wrong with life imprisonment, if they are innocent, its extremely unlikely that theyll be convicted without 'guility beyond all reasonable doubt" ALL reasonable doubt.
Thought if they are convicted, they have the rest of their lives to prove their innocense... like that Hurricane guy and that small boy lol... good movie

The death penalty is an easy way off. Mind you going to prison and getting everything catered for you sounds pretty fun. To be honest the whole crime punishment system in nearly every country isn't hard enough. You get criminals who might go to prison yet when they are in there they learn the "Tricks of the trade" then come out and kill more people. These criminals need to be isolated in a one man cell for their entire sentence. Make them suffer for what they have done. Not get a free stay at cheap hotel.

erm.. i dont think that people who are convicted of murder should have the choice. i think they should be killed in the most inhumane way possible.
It's one of these topics where there's benefits and disadvantages on both sides of the argument.

so what do you want i really disagree with your view? so heres the thing,you believe that death sentence isnt good for criminals that murders? and then life sentences isnt good for them either? so lets say IF a criminal kills your son and daughter,so you want he/her to just walk around and kill other people again? fair sentence. you kill people then you will be killed.feel the feeling of being killed.fair enough

No offence but if someone killed your family, you would sit there and say lets teach them a lesson, id say **** the death penalty and kill them myselves. Your only thinking that way because you havent considered it from the perspective i just stated. Think what you would feel like if it was you who had lost your family to some killer. On the other hand people can get wrongly accused and killed. That is the only glitch in the sytem if you like, and that is one to think on.
