Death Penalty

The death penalty is an utter failure, and a constitutional disgrace. Since February of 1990, executions in South Africa have been suspended; likewise, even Russia has suspended implementation of the death penalty, leaving the United States in the unsavory company of Communist China, Iran, Iraq, and a handful of other totalitarian regimes in the world which still use capital punishment.

England doesn't have the death sentence, we have a higher crime rate and our prisons are over-crowding. Plus people seem to think that you get executed in less than a year after your given the sentence. Wrong, your sat on death row for at least 3 years, possibly more as there is the chance for appeals in most cases. I'm not really sure what i believe, in some cases mass murder, etc then if it is proven beyond doubt that they are guilty or if they plead guilty then they should be executed. But if there is the slightest doubt then there should be a re-investigation. Also instead of just sending people to jail, make them do manual labour! It saves the government money and gives them a use.

I'm not sure exactly how many people are sentenced to death in the U.S. each year, but the number is roughly around a few thousand. In a smaller country like the U.K., I don't think that a few thousand would make a huge difference in your prisons.

I would say they deserve life imprisonment, I find that much crueler for anyone who is sick enough to murder innocent people. However, I don't think this is likely to happen because of the costs of keeping someone in jail until the day that they die..

That's truly fucked up. We kill people to save our asses from bankruptcy.

Some people DO deserve the death penalty, but it should be for the harshest and most evil actions. Things such as repeated murders or rape should deserve the death penalty.

Yea, i suppose those pyscho-paths that go around and mass murder / rape tommorrows generation deserve to walk free after a slap on the wrist.

I'm an aussie therefore we don't have the death penalty, and our "life" sentences are 25 years not actually "life".

However i think that some people deserve the death penalty for the crimes they have commited.

So to have total hapiness u must have the following must be met: physological needs, safety, love/belonging, and esteem therefor achieving self-actualization(hapiness). So think about it if you are in a prison you will have your basic needs but nothing else, but if you are dead then you will no longer need anything so those needs are "met" or "canceled out" also you no longer want anything so those needs are also "met" or "canceled out".

Yes a lady was given a death sentence for killing her kids a few weeks ago.

Its a very hard choice for me. On one hand there is the matter that you might possibly convict the wrong person and then your screwed. However on the other I couldn't stand to see people like Saddam Hussein live.

I don't understand the death penalty full heartedly. killing someone isnt going to make them feel sorry for what theyve done. Its just going to make the problem even larger. Theres one case that deserves the death penalty. child Molestation. That is the worst of any crime in my opinion.

Gah! The death penalty does not accomplish anything other than a petty sense of revenge!

All that executing somebody does is end another human life. It does not bring anybody back to life, does not "un-molest" someone, etc. How can you rationalize that they just "deserve" to die, without proving that you act on panicky human emotions rather than logic?

Unless they try to kill others in prison? If they're a threat to others even WHILE they're in prison, the death penalty is suitable.

Nah, lol. I hate murders, rapists, and child molesters. I think they deserve the worst of punishments, life in prison. Death is the easy way out for them. I don't even think that child molesters should get to be separated to different prisons so they don't get beat up or harassed by other inmates. They deserve what they get...getting frustrated just thinking about it...them sick fucks.

I don't think the death penalty should stand because it only wastes life and doesn't teach anyone anything, After all think about it if you were wrongly accused of murder you die.


Ofter the death penalty is a relief to some religions, because they would rather be in their " Heaven" than in prison so its serving no purpose.

But i don't agree with life sentences either.

What the point? , they don't have another chance at getting their lives on track. And i also think good behavior should get you earlier parole, I know they already do this but its not enforced enough.
