    Driving Age

Came across this while browsing through the web, thought I'd share it here
via Should the legal driving age be raised to 21?

Currently in California as well as a majority (if not all) states in the U.S. have the driving age of 16, meaning when you're 15 and a half you can test for your driving permit, then train for your driver's license after six months.

Should the law be changed to where you have to be 21 instead of 16 years old to drive? Why? Why not? What are the benefits/consequences of this?

Lets face it, most of us as teens were irresponsible as fuck when it came to driving. We sped, drove past curfew, sent messages from our phones while driving, and much more. BUT I mean how many of us still do that shit lmao? I do think that there should be stricter rules on driving at a younger age and parents need to be more strict on their kids about this. I personally was a pretty good driver and was much more responsible than most of my family other than the fact that I hit 115 on the highway  and stayed out every night lmaooo.

This is the same kind of question as lowering the drinking age to 18. At 18 your able to fight in the armed forces but not able to drink a brew. I think its mostly opinion based

this is the most flawed thing ive read, the test is easy as shit, the test doesn't do anything for realistic situations. They need to up the fines, thats all i think should happen, if you're texting and driving or whatever, you cant follow basic driving rules, you should be getting punished heavily(big tickets/ loss of license) Driving is a privilege not a right.

Good to see you knew instinctively how to drive 100% and never had any issues. Your basically saying first offense should be big ticket/ loss of license? What about people over lets say..... 70 that are having thier vision deteriorate? Do they deserve such harsh punishments. And what about someone thats 30 that still can't drive safetly? They are golden because they aren't 16?

This is the worst argument ive been a part of, you are not understanding what i'm saying. If you are 70 years old and have vision problems, ect, you are more of a danger to other people, pretty selfish to sit there and think "its ok i cant drive, im going to anyways"

Music/kids/cell phones are only distractions if you're being foolish.

I said up the fines/punishments for people who think driving is a game. I don't know why you sit here and argue that saying OMG YOU ARE AN IDIOT! YOU THINK EVERYONE CAN DRIVE OFF THE HOP!? Which is the opposite of what im saying. I'm saying punishments need to be higher so mistakes that shouldnt even be happening, DONT HAPPEN. If you're being distracted by your phone thats nobodys fault but your own.

I don't think it's the age that matters, but the generations that we teens are at. All of us are smart phone zombies and most of us use them even if we know we shouldn't be. Increased phone usage enforcement would decrease rate of crashes drastically.
