They're defense. It's pretty slim, and bobrovsky, imo, just isn't that great of a goalie that everyone makes him out to be. They're offense also isn't quite producing enough, but letting in on average 5 goals per game doesn't help haha.

    habs now 7-0. crazy.

oilers are 2-4, but we kicked the ass off of the flames and managed to scrape a win against the nucks, both teams who would consistently steamroll us last year.

mcdavid is really starting to hit his stride to in the NHL. his confidence is going up and up each game. watching him feed apples to Yakupov is fun too

7-0 habs, 0-7 jackets lol. Gonna say here that the jackets' streak ends before the habs just because the habs looked so solid tonight and the jackets have shown some compete with other teams in the league too.

Leafs off to a 1-4 start but honestly anyone who expected them to come out of this season not in the bottom 5 of the east (if not the league) was deluding themselves. Give it a few years and I think our org is looking good.

Yeah he did well the past couple games, racking up 2-2-4 in 2 games.

Habs man, they're looking very solid for the start of the season. Good thing I bet 10$ on that game, hehe. But really, Price is dominating as always. Their defense is being very stingy, not giving time or space. And their offense is producing enough to carry them through. Solid all around effort by them.

Oilers have now won three games in a row after beating Detroit for the first time in regulation play since December 2009.

Also, how about that McDavid guy?

Glad the announcers gave him credit for the pick move - really shows mcdavid's capabilities as a gifted offensive player as well as one that plays smart.

Yeah, he's got some good talent. Really looking forward to what he can do this year. Hoping to see some nice Ovechkin/Datsyuk-like highlight reel goals from him ^^

Watching that game I thought it was gonna be the game for the leafs - they were just so solid offensively but Bernier giving up a weak goal and Price being a brick wall in net was the difference maker that game.

I mean you can't bet against Price most nights. Despite how well the other team is offensively, Price is such a different maker that he can just steal a game like that. The Canadiens exploited a weak defense in order to snag the win.

How many more games are the Habs going to win before someone finally beats them? Their next three games are against the Canucks, Oilers and Flames. There's a good chance they'll be 12-0 coming out of October. I hate to sound biased, but the Oilers beat the Canadiens in both of their match ups last year, and I doubt the Canadiens will have their best guys out there that night, so I'm thinking the Oil may be the one to end the streak.

However, it's also 100% possible they steam roll the Oilers (plus the Canucks, Flames) and go 12-0.

Honestly I agree with you. Watching the game last night, a few posts was the difference in score. A fast, hardworking team that really shows up on a night that the habs don't (and I think the Oilers definitely have the potential to, they have been looking better after a pretty disappointing start to the season) will be the reason when the streak ultimately ends.

I think they'll go 10-0-0 and lose their next game. Just a random guess lol, but it's fun to believe. I doubt the Oilers will give them a run for their money, but I mean they have to lose after some point.

Leafs doing things right but still struggling. Starting goalies going sub-.900 in net so far isn't doing us any good either. Did a lot of things right during the Arizona game, but just couldn't pull it through. I read somewhere that not having 10 points by Halloween is basically a death sentence for playoffs, no matter what the theoretical statistics say. :(

No idea about the 10 point thing, I wouldn't pay attention to it lol. Anyways, the Maple Laughs seem to be doing alright. But they're still in a losing atmosphere, so it'll be awhile before anything starts going their way.

Hard to have a good save % when the team in front of you sucks. Oiler goalies can tell you everything about that concept.

Here's a real kicker though: Anaheim's goalie has a 1.71 GAA and a .940 save %, and is 0-3-2. Anaheim has scored one goal in their last six games. Can you say waste of great goaltending?

They're also a team that was overestimated. Look at the Calgary Flames, the statistics showed that what they did was basically luck, and that they should regress. They did. The statistics showed that what the ducks was partially luck, and that they should regress. They have. Of course the Ducks are a better team and will get back to it, but I don't think they'll dominate like people thought they would.

I haven't watched any Anaheim games since the playoffs so I can't really comment on what is wrong and what went right, and I realize they have a new coach this year, but they're not a bad team. They have some great talent with Perry, Getzlaf, Bieksa, and Kesler, so statistic aside, they should be able to score more than 1 goal in a six game streak.

Assistant maybe, but not a head coach. Bruce Boudreau is still the head coach. Yeah they are doing aweful and will regress upwards, yet they're not the dominant force everyone thought they were (basically my point).

Onto Connor McDavid: Surprise 1 point per game? Thought it'd be higher? Lower? Thoughts?

Coyotes: With Max Domi and Anthony Duclair stealing the stage and Martin Hanzal seemingly mentoring them well and feeding them plays, how will they do?

Oh shit lol, totally confused them with the Sharks for a second.

McDavid having 10 points in his first 10 NHL games (on the Oilers, too) is much above my expectation. I wouldn't have been overly surprised if his last 40 games he was around the point per game mark after he had adjusted and gotten used to the NHL, but it seems like he's got a lot of it figured out after just 10 games. Now of course, it's a really small sample size, but he's already been full out robbed by the goalie multiple times, and had a goal that was absolutely in the net called away too.

If he was on a team with good defense men who can actually make a break out pass/break other team cycles/are actually competent, him having 16 points right now would not shock me.

Honestly, I just hoped he wouldn't get killed out there.

As for the 'Yotes, I haven't watched much of them either, but I'm predicting a scenario sort of like Colorado a few years back. Win games by some sort of magic and completely beat the odds after being one of the last place teams the year before, do poorly in the playoffs, then return to being mediocre the next year.
