Guys, ill get straight to the point. Today was one of my close friends birthday. So my friend called me and told me to come to his surprise party, and I basically pretended I was busy because I can't handle the pain of my close friends birthday being celebrated, while my birthday was never remembered by anyone for almost the past 7 years. Not even my friends ever remembered it. I don't understand why I am being treated differently compared to other people.

Why can't they remember my birthday and celebrate it? why? why do they do this to me. They never remember anything important about me. I don't even know what to call them anymore tbh. I've been friends with these people for a longtime now, and I'm not sure how to handle the situation.

I'm really not a dick at all to them, we swear and laugh at each other etc and that is normal. But when it comes to special occassions that have anything to do with me, i'm forgotten.

MY BIRTHDAY IS IN 2 DAYS AND HIS BIRTHDAY IS 4-5 DAYS FROM NOW AND THEY CELEBRATED IT EARLY TOO! I'm forgotten like always and I got used to being so.

I don't feel i'm special to anyone at all, my parents forgot my birthday for the past 5 years as well. I'm not exaggerating.

P.s I'm 19 years old in 2 days.

Like the other guy said, don't take it personally. I haven't celebrated my bday in years because I simply can't give a fuck about it. Just go have fun with your buddies every now and then. To me there are bigger problems to worry about.

 

I kinda disagree with what the others are saying. In your younger years you can define some good friends for remembering stuff like your birthday. My best forinstance moved 3 hours away. I know this doesn't seem much but for somebody without a car and not much time it's a lot, especially considering he leaved 2 streets next to me before. But he always shows up/calls me/brings me a bottle of liquor when it's my birthday. He is always there for the big moments in a year which is important in my opinion.

Maybe just be honest and tell your friends like: Why do you always forget or don't care about my birthday. It's obviously bothering you, so not taking it personally seems like a hard thing to do.

They aren't your friends then.. What type of friends forget your birthday? Maybe they don't even know your birthday.. I guess you could ask them why they never celebrate your birthday. Anyway, where I'm from when it's your birthday you host a party and invite people. No one really makes surprise birthday parties, IMO that's for older people. It's better to just set-up a time and date for your party and then invite them to come, If they don't turn up then LMAO, HAHAHAHA, but yea that's just sad if they dont come, LOL.

Let your friends know that it is your birthday and make plans or organise things. Ask them if they would like to do something with you. Sometimes you have to make the first move in life and you cannot always expect others to. If you have the "if they won't then I won't" mentality you will be forever alone.

Life's too short to be bothered over something like this man, have good times with your friends all the time you shouldn't just hang out and do certain activities just cause it's your birthday, have a good time all the time!

Like others said, don't even stress it my dude - sometimes you gotta give them a gentle reminder as some people can't remember everyone's birthday. Just be like "Oh I'm tryin to figure out what I'm goin to do on my birthday." Then they will be interested, and that's when you make a plan and see if their down.
