Is it a good thing or a bad thing to support it, because it might be a scam.

Just watched it a couple of hours ago. I think this is really inspiring and everyone should spread this so we can get him.

....basically in uganda, there is this guy who goes by the name of KONY. what kony does is that he kidnaps kids from their homes and turns them into violent killers, killing their own parents, mutlilating people, etc.

Kony leads a rebel group which fights for basically no other reason than power. He rapes woman, participates in sex slavery, killing. The purpose of this video is to garner enough support, and pressure the world leaders ( mainly the US ) to get involved and catch KONY by the end of 2012

 

The brilliant thing is that it isn't boring.
You must have a real hard time watching any TV programmes or films.

 

watch one 30 minute video and become a social activist. sorry but i don't buy into the sensationalism.

brb thousands of people in concentration camps in north korea
brb thousands of people in syria being murdered every day
brb thousands of mexican children forced into human trafficking
brb thousands of americans are homeless

so they take out kony. what happens next? africa is corrupt as anything. and it seems now that the government will be inclined to act with so much support from the people. seems like it would be a good political move, huh?

I couldn't agree more with you, I was thinking the same way, I also think they are over exaggerating it for more people to feel bad for them and donate to the cause, I also thought about how someone could make a video like that and make lots of money from donations even tho it would be fake, not saying its all fake but some parts i feel are very exaggerated. My 2 cents.

 

It's not fake. You could always look up names mentioned and check out leads and facts they mention on other websites / people and such.

Invisible Children are making money out of charity and everyone advertising this is funding it.

Don't think that KONY 2012 could possibly change a thing.

 

Could someone explain to me why supporting it is bad? I'm really confused about all of this. There's just too much information.

If they couldn't change a thing why did the US already send some help there? Personally I support them for what they're trying to do.

By the way it wasn't a result of Invisible Children that they were even there.

They started filming in 2003 and any improvements in the situation have been due to the ICC and the local army.

It's a publicity stunt and they've been condemned for distorting the statistics.

It's a case of teenagers sitting in their air-conditioned rooms, sipping soda with their apathetic lives feeling as if they can contribute to society without actually doing anything; it's disgusting. Why is this suddenly so important where as the rest of these countries http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_ongoing_military_conflicts receive hardly any attention?

People are so ignorant they can't recognize the fact that cases like this exist all over the world.

I'm not arguing against the movement, I'm arguing against the filth that is Invisible Children and the way they're making money out of this.

I just watched and I don't know any reason for not supporting this. At least, some people is doing something about to stop criminals.

It's a scam. If you really want to support Africa, send your money to the Red Cross instead.

On top of that, Kony has been inactive and in hiding since 2006, while there are leaders who are actually in power that are more important than Kony.

tl;dr version: People are just now finding out that Africa is a shit continent overrun by rebels.
