Should Marijuana be Legal?

If it's that simple then I'm quite sure you can provide a good reason to as why it's illegal! ^_^

 

There is no reason why it shouldn't be legal. Facts show that more deaths are caused by Alcohol then Marijuana. Legalizing Marijuana would not only boost our economy by taxing it, but also boost it by ending the war on drugs (At least on Marijuana) and our prisons and jails wouldn't be as crowded and as full as they are now. Crime rate would lower, and overall it would make just a positive impact on the states.

 

I think they should just legalize it I wanna see what happens to the cartels when they realise the demand lowers by about 95%

 

Cartels would probably sell it to the government to be honest. Wholesaler:L

 

Why? They'd have plenty of people without weapons willing to grow it.

 

I think marijuana needs to be legalized for recreational use everywhere. I could list any number of sources I've obtained over the years, but at the point this threads at (20-something pages), I don't really think it's even worth it since I won't get a legitimate response anyway.

 

I don't see why it hasn't become legal. A grand percent of inmates are populating our prisons with such minor charges as possession and distribution. By legalizing marijuana we pretty much can cease drug deals as it would be legal. Marijuana is not imposed on anyone, if its legalized you can smoke it only if you want.

 

Its better for it to be be legal, it doesn't actually hurt you that much like the people from the top say it does, sometimes it actually helps!
The Government CAN make allot of money by taxing and Legalizing it, yes the dealers will continue to sell it but knowing it is legal people might tend to buy from people which have a license to sell ( if it gets Legal ).

My Economics professor told the class why it is illegal. Hemp can be made to use very cheap clothing and a substitute for expensive pharmaceutical drugs. There were a few other things that hemp can be used to produce that I can't recall. Essentially, if hemp was used to make very cheap products, the economy would have a hard crash. A lot of companies would go bankrupt because people would be able to fabricate extremely cheap clothes right at home. Obviously I am going to give my professor the benefit of the doubt; however, can anyone give a rebuttal on this? Perhaps I'm not seeing the full picture.

 

It would crash industries and start new ones.

Not many people would start making their own clothes, it's still a big effort.

 

Perhaps new industries would profit off this. Would it be worth it since hemp is so cheap? Would they still be making enough profit that would be worth the effort or time? And what about it substituting pharmaceuticals?

 

hemp is legal to grow in canada no industries are going bank rupt. Its also legal to import and export hemp related items in the USA just not hemp itself and its illegal to grow.

 

I will be going to Colorado and/or Washington this next year sometime to see how much the legalization has changed the state.

I'm quite glad it has happened, now we can see how it will benefit the states economically. Should shut a few people up.


Some will argue that it makes it easier for the cartel to sell their bud without punishment. Their weed is low quality and has a small THC %, about 3 times smaller or more than laboratory graded weed in the US. Even more the health issues on pot grown without care can be seen easily, so no. They wouldn't stand a chance selling here as their pot would be too low for regulations to sell and too low THC for many.

My friend told me they have private lounges like in Cali, but better. TBH thats the main reason Im going to visit the states.

I heard and read that there's too many limitations still on what types they can grow. Also, someone told me there's not that many hemp farms because they've had problems with the regulations, fees, permits and other stuff they keep trying to change.

On top of all that, it isnt seen well by many. The words hemp, weed, pot, marijuana, etc have had negative connotations attached to them for far too long that people do not even consider anything for it as they should.


Its not getting the attention they should. While corporations have so many resources and access to things hemp farmers wouldn't.

 

That's like asking "is it worth sending production to china because it's cheaper?" Of course it's worth it, companies would probably have a wider profit margin.

As for substituting some pharmaceuticals, it honestly wouldn't affect the bottom line too much over all. Cannabis isn't a miracle drug that treats everything. Pharmaceutical companies will still lobby against it anyways because it will still affect the bottom line, no doubt.

 

I am a frequent pot smoker, but either way has its ups and downs.

In my eyes, the only reason weed is not illegal is due to the fact our government (UK) can not control it. If they where to legalise weed, they would need to tax the shit out of it... Who in the right mind is going to go to Asda to buy taxed pre rolled joints, made by manufacturers whos putting god knows what shit in it (like cigs), when you can carry on buying a nice 1/8 off your dealer every night?

Also, a lot of dealers will have no option than to sell other drugs, making a more dangerous market for buying drugs like cocaine and MDMA.

It will happen, but it will be a long time before it is legal.

 

I think marijuana should be legal because, cigarrettes are legal and they kill, Alcholc is legal and its just as bad as marijuana. I just think that if they do legalize it, it should be just liked alchol where you cant smoke and drink, or be high while driving, etc

 

Entire first sentence is a fallacy. And I've driven baked more times than I have sober and never crashed...
