That is very true. I dont kno if its influence tho as much as personality "jeans"
Umm, no. Look at Paris Hilton for example. There are thousands out there that show to opposite. It's all a matter of personal choice. Lets say I kill myself because I have a 1.2 GPA and no hope of going anywhere in life. Now, 10 years earlier, let's say my grandfather had killed himself. Why would someone assume that I killed myself because my grandfather had as well? No, they should assume I killed myself because I had a bad attitude about life and screwed up my future.
As a rule of thumb... I know their are going to be exceptions. Point is parents influence their kids a lot of the time, but thank you for one fairly irrelevent example.
Altho my parent are broke and both very rich , i still want my own money , i gamble , sell drugs and guns , because i feel pashion at that , and thats something my parent would never tolerate . Btw i never asked a single cent since 12 or so , i always had my money , i like black | white with parents
Gnomey, what i'm saying is parents have an influence on what their kids do. There are exceptions, I know that. But take for example and abused child. when that child becomes a parent he'll be more likely to abuse his own child. Take for example a child raised by two gay parents, he is more likely to be gay later in life. I realize it's about personal choice, but a parents effect on a child in developing years will affect how the person thinks therefore affecting their personal choices.
I'll try to get some statistics to back up my point when I get home.
Not if they have the willpower to say "wow, I hated it when my parents beat the crap out of me. I'll never do it to my kid."
As I've been saying, parents may impact how easy or hard it is to make the right choices (It is tougher for an inner city kid in poverty to go to Harvard than a rich suburb one), BUT in the end it is the individuals choice.
But statistically a child raised by an abusive parent or a gay parent(s) is more likely to become that. Willpower is irrelivent.
No, it's not. People who are hit as a child do not ALWAYS do the same as parents. Kids who are raised in poverty aren't ALWAYS in the same spot as an adult. If that was the case, then yes, your parents would have an influence on the rest of your life. BUT, some people make the CHOICE to not follow in that path, and so, one cannot say that your origins determine your future.
I'm not saying ALWAYS. Your background does not determine your future, but it does influence it. Kids who are raised in poverty aren't ALWAYS in the same spot as an adult, but are more likely to be than someone who isn't raised in poverty. A child who is abused will not ALWAYS abuse their children, but the chance of that child abusing his children as opposed to a child who isn't abused is greater. So parents, DO influence what children do.
