WoW Vs. Aion; the ultimate debate

Played a bit of both, I think WoW is still the dominating one though.

 

The reason that WoW still dominates even though new MMO's are coming out is because of its user base. A lot of the players cling to WoW because of their history with the game.

WoW dominates, simply because it's far more advanced, stable, and mind-blowingly huge! Aion will need to step up its game (servers, patch days, troubleshooting) if it wants to play with Blizzard.

And to the person who said Blizzard is being raped by Guild Wars 2 and Aion, think again. Diablo III? Starcraft II? Cataclysm expansion?

 

Aion runs like shit on most laptops aswell I was looking at my friend play it on his laptop and it was running fairly sluggish.

The problem with the graphics in games like Aion is they try to make it to realistic which is why I like the graphics style of WoW its semi realistic and the environment/enemies everything just blends in well and I didn't really see this in Aion.

The servers are rediculous my friend had a 3 hour long queue just to play on a english server so he has to play on a german server.

For these reasons WoW > Aion.

Oh and guild wars only took people from WoW because there was no monthly charge so that fails aswell.

 

You can't guarantee something like that, you fool.

 

I'll be purchasing Aion shortly, looks pretty good and its a relatively 'new' game unlike wow. if you started wow now you'd never get to know about it ALOT all the weapons, ways to train all the places etc its just too big! Aion is a nice new clean playing fied

 

No WoW dominates for the same reason that Ipod owns the music markets. They got in firs with the right marketing strategy. And now WoW is the main name associated with online RPGs, most people havent even heard of any others. It is all in the marketing. Blizzard also had quite a cult following with warcraft. It is tough for new games to get in on the market that has largely been filled, but it can be done. I personally am finding wow a bit of a yawn nowdays looking for something new, might check this Aion out saw it at the shops never really paid attention

 

A laptop? No shit, Laptops aren't for gaming. Get a gaming pc and you are fine. Laptops are good for flash games, others GTFO..

This is all I have to say...

• Aion is a South Korean game (Company originated in South Korea)
• There are shitload of South Korean MMO's
• Their concepts get repeated over and over
• WoW is more original & by a more trustable company

I'd just stick with WoW.

 

Er no , Everquest came in before wow and was marketed just fine as we can see from its player history.
Wow was just a better game.. and was the best for years and now its fan base is very strong and that's whats keeping it together.
I do agree with the warcraft following tho.. i mean there is still a shitload of warcraft 3 games being played everyday.

 

Alot of people are going by graphics :s it's the storyline and fun factor that breaks it down.

 

WoW is better because of the huge fanbase and popularity that comes with it. I think WoW will most likely always be the biggest MMO for reasons that DarkSpark previously stated. With games like Aion, there are already hundreds of online games with the exact same concepts and what seperates them from others is the fact that NCSoft made the game, so you may aswell stick with WoW.

 

Wow to me is jsut repetitive and boring

K, I played WoW about a good year ago.
I had a level 62 hunter i stopped playing because leveling up just got so fucking annoying, and it was the shit quest quest quest, oh and did i metion quest?
I quit never to play again.

I purchased Aion 2 weeks and I'm already a level 16 cleric.
My thoughts on it? or maybe lets start with my first impression i may say?

I open the game and the first thing I say.
The character creation fucking SHITS ON WOW. No question anyone wanna fight on it?
I than started the game and said omg these fucking graphics are insane. much better than WoW.
so far. Aion 2. WoW - 0.

I began to play and started my first quest, seeing as the button were pretty similar to WoW i already have a basic idea to what I am doing. (Also to people who never played both, they give really good starting tips)

I wasn't sure where to go for the first quest, so i checked my quest and i saw the button "Locate" so i was like eh? Not so bad i clicked and it showed me exactly where to go.
Built in quest helper so you don't have to spend an hour looking for a quest? I think that's a +

All though i must say it takes much longer to level up, but monster + quest give a lot of exp so ill give that to WoW.

You can also fly at level 10 which is very cool, the combat is much more smoother and the yeah

Aion shits on wow and consider it's only out for 2 months or so? Theres much more to come. Aion has my vote.

I honestly think that Aion and WoW look to much alike to really tell anything. But if I had to choose, I'd go with WoW
