winrar passwords help

eh i forgot a password to my winrar file... and I need whats inside of it, I heard of a guide on here before but couldn't find it, any help is helpfull XD

 

Download a Winrar password cracker... there are some good crackers around. just google it.

 

copy and paste program? (make sure its not the shortcut) then open new winrar

 

Actually, cracking a winrar password might turn into a real nightmare, specially if you have used some of lastest versions (like not more than 1 year old).
The problem is that, the brute force attack will work at most at 7 to 10 passes a second (compared to the last optimized zip cracking which reaches about 20K passwords a second) might take a very .. very .. long while ...

 

why not just uninstall it then reinstall it, you will still have the files on your computer?

I am really talking about the last version and the rar 3.X method, which is way stronger than the usual zip one.

Here is a file that contains a simple text file, and shouldn't be hard to crack, i just made it, please take your time and test your "cracker" on it, i'll be very happy if you can break thru my 6 characters password.

PLEASE RENAME THE FILE TO ".RAR" as i couldn't upload a rar file, i renamed it ".zip".

Oh and jotti it please while you are at that.

The point of all this ? if you want to have an easy and yet strong protection for some files, just use winrar and a good password, as cracking a winrar is always possible but very very long.
