[HELP] WinRar usage - How to use/What is it for?

Okay. So, I've noticed that since I use Photoshop, and I get brushes, WinRar can help me. (I've been told.)

Thing is, I don't know how to use WinRar. I don't know exactly what is does, or anything. I would look up tutorials, but I figure it'd be best to come here, first.

Can someone fill me in ?

Basically Unzips .RAR and .ZIP files that have multiple files inside of them

 

I won't even pretend like I understood that.. ):

 

Ok let's say you download a .RAR file on the web, say it's like an album. It will come as a .RAR file because it contains more than 1 file (since it's an album it probably has 6 or 7 files) You extract it onto any folder and you now have all the files

 

So it's basically like a bag. The bag carries your files, and makes them smaller, so it's easier to carry?

So when you come across a .RAR file, you extract onto any folder and you will get more than 1 file
