If you prove that God exists, I'll pay you $5,000. Yes, I have the money.

For the purposes of this exercise, God is defined as "an external deity with supernatural powers". No, you will not be able to win the money by any word-play or trickery.

Go.

Rules:

1). No being an idiot.
2). Standard scientific proof ONLY.
3). Read through the thread to see if that HUGE FUCKING ARTICLE YOU JUST COPIED FROM THE INTERNET has been dealt with before.
4). If you have any other question, Google is your friend.

Difference parts of your brain engage more during prayer/meditation.

Just google "brain activity during prayer"

Different parts of my brain light up when I tell a lie, also.

How does that prove that God exists?

"We used meditation as a model ... for prayer and other types of intense religious experience," says Newberg, assistant professor of radiology at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine in Philadelphia.

Using a special X-ray procedure called SPECT, the scientists were able to see increased activity in the brain during meditation. Brain areas important in focused concentration were especially active.

Even more astounding was altered activity in a brain region that normally orients us and tells us where our bodies are in space. The different pattern of brain activity in this particular brain region may explain why meditators feel transported out of the physical world and into a spiritual realm that seems no less real.

"As the boundaries between self and physical surroundings go away, the meditator feels at one with something larger, whether a religious community, the world as a whole, or ultimately, God," Newberg says.

With this, you can say that God is real as in a state that God is in your head.

When I say "God", I refer to an external supernatural deity, not an altered brain state.

Follow these easy steps.

1. Get in possession of a fire arm.

2. Commit suicide with said weapon.

3. Find out for yourself.

Also, why would we have regions of are brain that orients us in space if we haven't experienced it enough and been there long enough to evolve it?

I'm looking for proof of a God, not an afterlife.

Also, your method requires extensive risk on my part. No thanks.

The fact that you randomly decided to give out 5000 dollars to anyone who could give you proof.

And the fact that I randomly decided to come and look on the forums today and found this post to reply on?

I don't either....

Uh... Try opening a Bible and pointing at the first thing you see and reading it?

There is no physical proof other then the Bible, and others expierences, and a few other things I can't remember right now..

I've read the Bible - it's no different than any other religious text.

The experiences of others are probably hallucinations.
