Will 07 gold prices Pummel?

Looking for Gold Sellers/buyers on if you think that the gold prices will pummel more than they already have with Staking being Removed from the game.

 

Well it isn't just the D/A being removed. They're also threatening and taking action against buyers now. In theory the D/A being removed will significantly hurt the supply of gold sellers, but the demand will probably go down as well due to Jagex taking a new stance on gold buyers. And the fact you won't have addicts dropping 100s on the arena every week hurts demand too. Will probably even itself out. Not a gold seller though, just my opinion.

 

in my opinion gold will go down since theres no more stakers who buy gold and people who buy gold for skilling/pvming whatever purposes are scared to do now since they are focusing on gold buyers

 

There have been numerous reasons why the prices of Oldschool Runescape gold have been dropping recently. The first prominent reason is the drop in price of high-valuable items such as the scythe of vitur and the twisted bow. When the item prices are low, less gold is needed to purchase the items, and hence there is less demand for Oldschool Runescape gold. The new Grand Exchange tax proposed by Jagex might counter the effect of item prices dropping and gold prices declining. Jagex will implement a gold sink and an item sink by taxing the items traded in the Grand Exchange by 2%.

Another reason RS gold prices are dropping is because of a high amount of gold farmers and botters. Gold farmers in third-world countries such as Venezuela and China are earning gold through methods such as raids, theatre of blood, and revenant caves. Gold farmers will obtain RS gold in the game for the pure benefit of selling this gold for real-world cash. Finally, there is another more obvious reason as to why gold prices are dropping and has to do with simple economics. There is at the moment more supply of gold than demand which is making the gp prices drop.

 

In the short term, for example, right after the Duel Arena removal combined with the 'scare' of bans against RWT-buyers, prices will fall even more than they have, and I anticipate prices will crash drastically on the 17th of November when the duel arena is removed. The Runescape market, much like markets in the real world is very sensitive to change and speculation, and I think gold prices will crash significantly, potentially to around 0.30$ per mil right after the 17th of November.

However, as the Grand Exchange tax is phased in at a proposed 2%, and an item sink, combined with MORE people buying Bonds, this will cause the PRICE of BONDS to go down, and thus, people will be more incentivised to buy OSRS through black-market retailers.

So, perhaps in the medium to long term the market will adapt to these changes and thus gold price will stabilise. Right now there is just a lot of anticipation and anxiety within the Runescape gold trading marketplace, this in my estimation will level out.

The Runescape black-market trading industry is really adaptable to change - this is no more obvious than the clan chats and discord servers that ALREADY exist to combat the 10M duel arena cap that will come into place on the 17th of November.

TLDR: Overall, I think it is obvious that threats to buyers and the duel arena removal is a net detriment to the price of gold which will cause gold prices to fall dramatically after the 17th of November, but gold prices will recover eventually as other gold sinks are introduced such as the G.E tax, and as Bond prices decrease.

Duel arena changes and grand-exchange tax will even each other out. Grand-exchange might even be a bigger impact imo, it will make the economy more stable. Duel arena was both huge supply and demand for gold, and a fast way to make money for a lot of players. With the duel arena being gone you need to actually grind if you play the game to get high valued items. If these high valued items get more rare (because of the ge tax) the price increases and hence if you want to buy end-game gear you need to buy even more gold. With the coming of raids 3 etc as well i think gold prices might even go up from here rather then go down honestly

 

They will remove duel arena in 2 days?

 

Yes bro, the duel arena in RS3 was removed on the 8th of November.
This change is happening in OSRS, on the 17th of November.

 

Oh wow I didn't know that they already removed the duel arena in RS3. I wonder if demand of RS3 dropped after removing duel arena.

 

Prices of RS3 gold plummetted almost instantly, but they are gradually increasing again back to pre-removal rates.

 

Compared with that, it has fallen a lot. Now, most of the third-party platforms sell OSRS in the range of 0.4-0.55$/M, and RS3 in the range of 0.05-0.06$/M. It is mainly based on RSorder as a reference.

 

I think it will definitely drop a lot. Most of the gold trading centered around the Duel Arena.
