Why is Suicide illegal?

I didn't know tha tit was. It seems liek it ouldn't be an effective law because if someone commits suicde, they can't be punished...

 

Because it costs the police money to clean up the body..
Plus ur family will be fucking crying and they might commit also

 

If you shoot yourself, you could shoot the wrong spot.

If you drug yourself, you may not take the correct dosage.

If you hang yourself, you might not tie it right or something.


Theres many ways to fail suicide...

 

Failing Suicide:

Incorrect Dosage, improper use of equipment, not performing the act right and simply knocking yourself out-cold - not killing.
You can be revived on-scene if paramedics get to you quick enough.
There are heaps of ways.


As for why it is illeagle...
I know alot of people have already stated alot but I'll type why I think it is illeagle - and on this shitty Pent 3, im seriously not going to even attempt to open a new tab for a google search, so sue me.

Now, I believe that committing suicide is illegal because..

It is abrupt, and forceful way of taking a life.
Whether it is your life or not, you are taking a life. When someone dies, it is not the dead person that feels the most pain, it is the people around that person who loved them.

Knowing that your mother was suicidal would unease you, am I correct?
Imagine (im sorry for those who dont) someone you love commits suicide. How would you feel?


There can be a danger to the surrounding bystanders
If you jump off a building, you could land ontop of a couple of people - killing them from the impact.
If you shoot yourself, you could injure someone around you.
The emotional distress people go through may further push another person to suicide.
The more people suicide, the more accepted it will become. The more accepted suicide is, the more common it is.
What the government doesnt want is an age of mass-suicide - they need soldiers.


Financials

A death can cost alot of money, both to the involved and the police.
Things that have to be accounted for are,
- Funeral Services
- Coffin
- Autopsy
- Paying police to investigate the death
- Councilling for those who need it
- If you fail, and your put in jail, then the tax payers fork out money for you to be there.

If you pay tax and theres a suspicious death - you bet your paying for it.

My opinion

I believe suicide needs to be outlawed.
It gives some people the sense its wrong, and can help stop it from being so widely committed.

You cant allow people to take their own lives, A) It may have been avoidable and B) It is exactly like murder (except you are committing it on yourself).
Would you kill someone? Why kill youself?

I know alot of you think, "But what if they want to die", or "What if they are sick" or whatever.
My friends, that is called Youth-In-Asia (not sure if thats how you spell it lol).
This is when another person takes the life of another person on their own free will.

If you are seriously suffering, you should get help.
If you are seriously suffering after you get help, you should commit youth in asia, my lethal injection in hospital.

I personally believe all those with cronic illnesses (aids, etc.) shouldnt hold out for a cure, but should be kept alive until both them and their family feel ready for that person to die.
Death is death, its the best cure for cronic, and life threatening illnesses - not morphine.

 

It's an unfortunate side effect, but you are not responsible for how others react to your actions that do not concern them.

So do it safely.

Death cures nothing. What if the cure for AIDS is five years away? It very well could be, you know.

 

America was founded on being able to choose your own religion, and trying to get AWAY from the Christian roots in Europe.

Anyhow, the problem I see most with suicide being illegal is that what if the person's life is REALLY rubbish and they're not just mentally unstable?

Just let them die if they really want to, instead of fining/jailing them and forcing them to live their obviously awful life.

Why should it be illegal though? If a person was saved from committing it, then shouldn't he/she get help instead of getting arrested?

 

If someone feels that killing themselves is the best/only way out for them, let them do it. It's their life, their problems. Yes, you should seek help from someone you trust before you irrationally take your life. Maybe you overlooked something while thinking it over. Whatever, the government shouldn't be able to control people's lives to that extent. If it's the best choice for you, then so be it.

 

^You don't get charged with taking a life if no one dies, in anything.

 

I wonder if anyone ever though that if someone suicidal is arrested, then won't it only make them more suicidal, because it's one more problem for that person.

 

My grandma commited suicide and the effects on me I understood. She was 64? and she had a lived life, her second husband died of heart problems and she made it through life for 3 years, upon those years she obtained many illnesses and sicknesses. She had problems with her whole body, and she was probably going insane. I still love my grandma and I did indeed cry when she died, but I still understood. She shot her self in the brain and instantly died, in which not feeling any pain.

Suicide should be legal, although it causes pain, the people show like apply to do so, and have a valid reason.

 

There are many obsolete laws that no one has never bothered getting rid of. Can anyone provide a single case where someone was prosecuted for attempted suicide?

Suicide>seatbelts. Not real sure where you were trying to go with that one, but suicide is a choice, car wrecks generally are not. My body, my life, my choices and all that...

Sucide is illegal because you are taking a life it dosen't matter if it is yours or someone else yo are taking a life thats all the goverment cares about to put you to jail. I believe it is very wrong if you can't kill your own body which frustrates me about the goverment because, here in America even though they say its a free country they think they own you which is very wrong. Have any of you guys ever read a book called "Tears of a tiger" , we read it at school as assignment, it talks about a guy wanting to commit suicide.

On Topic; I honestly don't know why it is illegal. Especially if you fail to do so and then meet all of the tests to affirm that you're sane. I don't see any legal basis for it.

 

Its not "illegal" atleast not in Australia...theres no criminal charge against you if you attempt suicide you will just be forced to attend counceling and they may put you in an mental institution to stop you trying again/help you get better...its not prison though
