Why do I need to pay extra money to donate?

If I want to donate $100 dollars to Sythe I need to pay an extra 25 dollar fee. I'm already trying sponsoring this website by giving it free money and its a joke that there's an additional fee so I can't donate exactly what I want. The Paypal button never works so you're forced to go somewhere else.

For example, it's like charging Bill Gates $50,000 for his $1M dollar donation. He's giving you $1M dollars for free, why the crap are you charging him an additional $50,000?

If I wanted to donate 5 dollars, I should be able to pay 5 dollars not 8 dollars. Not going to donate until either the Paypal button gets fixed or this very stupid MM fee gets fixed.

 

You can always donate through a bondholder for your first small donation (required) then donate a larger amount yourself through paypal afterwards.

 

Yes that's what I'm annoyed about, why am I required to pay a bondholder just to donate to the website? The main ones basically charge 35% of what you donate. It's really stupid fees.

I don't plan on donating if I need to pay a middleman. Set up something where I can donate directly to the website. It's free money to the website, don't know why you make donors go through so much extra work to get it done.

TLDR: Not going to bother by the way the current donation system is set up. Otherwise I would have donated.

I agree with you 100%. Some are trying to use the fact that you want to donate. @ABM does it the fair way.

IMO there shouldn't be a fee for the first small donation as you're forced to use a bond holder. I.e. you're forced to pay more than you intend to, when you're just trying to support the site. It's not a good first impression.

Either way, seems to work for the site so who am I to say anything else ^^

 

I had those problems with my first donation as well I'm a $2100 donor I should be about a $2,333 lol. I say that to say you have to pay people for the time they take to process your donation. Once you process the first one you should be able to do PP and then your good to go.

 

Basically TS's point: some bondholders are bloody ridiculous who charge 35% for a donation. Which i agree is bloody retarded lol.

 

Honestly though, I agree with the underlying issue here. I'd be in favor of a bondholder charging a small fee to cover their costs to convert, since this is a service after all and they don't want to lose money, but aiming to make a substantial profit off newcomers doesn't sound right at all. Even with the user having a choice of which bondholder to go to, it'd be nice to see some sort of "crackdown" on bondholders that abuse this.

I totally agree that there should be a cap at the bond holders fee, I've never heard of a 35% fee but I'm going to assume that's real. May I recommend using @ABM I used him before I think and he only took like 3 or 4 %.

But at the same time you have to remember that these bond holders are taking time out of their day to process your donation; time is money. I'm not an expert on the process, but I'd also like to assume that there is also a fee for them, if you were to send them $25 in Bitcoin, and than they'd donate the money to Sythe, they're losing a few cents here and there if they were taking 0 % commission/fee and that adds up over time.

There has to be some intentive for users on Sythe to become bond holders you know?

That's just my view on the topic, feel free to correct me if I'm wrong on any of my points again I'm not an expert.

 

Completely agree that theres a better way of doing it. Take a lookat TheTechGame (month to month subscription rather than lifetime donation), but you pay directly into the site.

I also think fees are ridiculous. So donate $5 to a bond holder then PayPal the rest.

 

I'm not quite sure if you can for your first donation, but many of us have the option to pay directly from PayPal without the additional fee due to bond holder.

As for middlemen, a lot of us are free myself included just to give back to the community.

I've donated a total of $50 so far which cost me 98M 07 gold which if you work it out for example if you used bogla gold and bought the gold for 98M its $68.6. for a 50$ donation, and people talking about "but its their time they are using" It literally took 25 seconds to update my donation such a big time loss.

alright fair enough I get what you are saying but even at the low end of $5.86 for 20 seconds of work is crazy what is someone going to miss in 20 seconds?

Why can't you just add crypto as an option for first donation? You would literally just provide an address and all newcomers could choose that as an alternative. And before you say anything, I know there's a small fee when sending crypto as well. But at least it doesn't feel like members of Sythe are trying to take advantage of you.

 

Unless it changed, you can just donate $5 and start using paypal after that.
