Bring back the programming section

We used to be a community based around cheating, now we're more of a market. I'm ok with that, but..

Why can't we be both? Scripts (primarily java) for botting clients are big right now, and if we had a scripting section it would make the cheating section here look a bit better, or perhaps branded up-to-date RS client with interesting features would bring people to the community, but that is just an example.

Thoughts?

But I still don't agree with the Programming section being a subsection of Technology, bring it back to the front page.

 

I can agree with that.

 

I personally would aim to make it in to a help oriented section, where people would come and ask for general programming help and avoid having it specifically for cheating/games. In the long run, if it was to become a place where people know they can get programming answers, I'm sure the activity + the increase of members would be far greater than having it specifically for cheating on certain games.

In regards to moving it to the front page, I wouldn't mind doing it to see if it results in more activity.

EDIT: ah syed I've just read your post anyway, I think exactly what syed says. it should be brought back to the front page.

 

I support to the move back to the front page. I'm not a programmer by any means so I will simply offer my support for the move.

 

The first page of Web Programming goes back to May 2013, and the first page of Programming General goes back to August 2013, not active enough, no support.

 

Personally for the use that people are going to get out of it, it might be something the site should look into and gain more external users

 

Could be people don't know about it. And point of this suggestion is to bring in more people interested in cheating/botting so we have more users.

It still exists, just lacks in activity. If you're interested in that sort of thing, then by all means go ahead and contribute.

 

If we want an active section then we'll need some projects to gain interest. I was considering open sourcing a bot I was working on and could try to gather interest with that, Syed's structure did look good I guess.

Personally not a fan of pushing it back up to the index, it had been there for who-knows-how-long as a dead section, and there's already a link to the section on the front page (http://puu.sh/5CmeI/018770adbf.png)

 

Sythe has never had an avid programming community. Taking away focus from the primary topic of the forums decreases the website's profitability as it becomes more of a generalized website than a niche website.

Consider SEO with the introduction of those extra topics.

 

If we could reiterate the programming section, it'd be great. Problem is Sythe has close to no programmers/ anyone with any experience in programming. I myself know absolutely nothing, but I want to learn. Any guide I read though, I just can't understand a part and it doesn't explain it deeply. Most members on the site are probably like that, if they're even interested in programming at all.

 

i really need to dust off my C++ books and get back on that horse.

It's in technology, and it's been here for ages. It's just inactive.
