The world will not end just like that. If the Mayans are so powerful and predicted this, why are gone now?

You have to say they are quite primitive too.

I do NOT believe it. The reason the entire thing started was because the mayan calander ended on that date. The Mayans did not have daylight savings time. And I dont think they had leap years either. I looked it up once and can't remember all the details, but if the world was gona end on 21/12/2012 by the Mayan calander, for us it would have actually ended sometime during the summer of 2012 not in december, dont remember the xact date, it may have even been in spring, but if all we're going by is the Mayan's said the world would end on 21/12/2012 they were wrong, cuz their 21/12 was MONTHS ago.

Well automatically I agree but I think we are way past their date, the Roman Emperors Caeser and Augustus added the months July and August, so 21/12/2012 would be 100's years before if you take them months out now.

Exactly, it is simply how there calendar is set, just because it finally ends, it does not mean the world will. It is merely a would-be milestone had the Mayans lasted.

The world is in decay and forever will it be the longer the human race lives upon it. The more we advance and build the more we destroy the planet we are on. Human race is plagued by misguidance through out time with religion and greed causing wars which humans feel the need to fight for the right to live in that belief which in reality differs to the way we possibly should be living had religion and the confusion it causes not occurred in time gone by.

They say that the Sun will only last for another 500million years but only if we don't destroy the World before hand.

The Apocalypse will happen randomly in my opinion and it will certainly not be forseeable to the primitive.

Who believes in the end of the world? 21/12/2012

Well the end of the world wouldn't be only because of the Mayan calendar, there are other factors involved, like they say there is a planet that's going to crash the earth on that day. Feel free to verify it, but it wouldn't be ending just because the Mayan calendar.

I created the thread, however my position is neutral towards this, I am quite curious about what will actually happen

The world won't end because some ancient fucks stopped their calendar. They used to shape their heads like corn, and they would cut their hands and spread the blood on their corn to make it grow faster (or something similar, I can't recollect). There are many possibilities for the world to end due to not enough oxygen, food, etc. I firmly believe that there will be an economic collapse in my lifetime, which could be a sense of the world ending since life would be shit. But, hey, not on 21-12-12. That's garbage.

The Mayan's skipped leap years I believe, so it should of ended years ago if they were right. It's a load of bullshit, but the trolling is good.

    Are oil companies a religion?

    4 billion years

If you're going to single out a 2000 year old civilization's more shocking customs for the sake of emphasizing their ineptitude, then I'd like to ask, how much better than them are we?

For entertainment we glue ourselves to iphones and televisions. The "ancient fucks", on the other hand, were avid watchers of the night sky...

I'm pretty sure the economic collapse has been happening for some time now lol

I was just about to say this, exactly right.
The Mayans didn't account for leap year in their colander, world should've ended last year.

While the Mayan people never factored in leap year's, they were around when the Mayan people lived. The Mayan calendar was created between 5 BCE-250 CE. Ceaser added the leap year in 8 CE. So there is the possibility that while the Mayan civilization never used the leap year, it was around when they made the calendar.

That being said, while i agree with the people saying that the world will not end on the 21st December 2012, i do believe that events this year have made people perceive how they view the world differently and therefor the world as they knew it has ended and a new world has begun. There is also the factor that a terrorist attack/catastrophic natural disaster could happen this month which could also cause people to perceive how they view the world differently.

    Just a few examples.

1: al-Qaeda and many other militant and terrorist organizations have been threatening severe terrorist attacks in response to various happenings through out the world which could happen with the busyness of the security across the world during the festive period.

2: The San-Andreas fault in the west coast of the USA is due for a shift which would cause an earthquake over 6.8 on the rictor scale.

3: Yellowstone park which is in its own way, is a super volcano which according to some leading scientists is over due an eruption, which if it does erupt, could cause another ice-age which obviously would cause the world as we know it to cease to exist although life would still go on, but more nomadic.

There are many more theories out there so I do believe that if not this year then sometime in our lifetime's there will be a severe tragedy whether it be man made or natural which will cause people to perceive the world differently and also hopefully unite the world rather than constant wars and fighting (highly unlikely).

Best post so far. The ancients were a lot smarter than we give them credit for, despite the primitive impression eveyone seems to get from the fact that they tended to dressed scantily.

In any case. people also need to begin focusing on the crises occuring in the world right now

Exactly, although they were primitive, it has been proven they were very clever and great astronomers. They already knew 2000 years ago that the world had 365 days of the year.

And like T V said, we should concern ourselves with what is happening in the world now, and not what might or might not happen

Who believes in the end of the world? 21/12/2012

The first time I ever heard of this "Worlds end" related to the Mayan calendar, I instantly though it could actually be true as they were very smart humans. They were primitive, yet they knew how to calculate the day-time and like you mention, the 365 years of the year.

Regarding the theories, the world would end, not just because the Mayan calendar, but other factors that would cause the worlds end. I am saying this basing on some things I read in the NASA site; for example that there is a possibily of a planet crashing the earth around that date, however there is no astrological evidence about that. Sorry for my possible spelling mistakes. But I am glad that people are posting their opinions as that was the reason for this thread

Nah. I did wonder about Nibiru, but I'm not concerned with the matter. Let's say that, hypothetically, the world is going to end on December 21'st, 2012. Just for shits and giggles. What do you need to do to prepare for mass death? I just need a good smoke, I'm tired of these Marlboro Lights. Before mass death occurs in any fashion, I want a USA Gold Full Flavor, or a Newport Menthol. Not just one, either. I want a f***ing pack.

    There's my input. Anyone else?
