When do you think VR will takeoff?
When do you see VR becoming very publicised in the gaming industry and becoming one of the front runners?

I think we'll have a better idea of this come 2016 when Playstation VR and Oculus are both released.

Based off the reviews and the gaming industry backers, it could "take off" in 2016. Plenty of publishers have showed interest in creating games for VR + the hardware seems to be very good (Playstation VR was recently showed off at the Tokyo game show and people seem to love it).

Providing Playstation VR and Oculus are what they promised, I imagine there will be a decent adoption rate, but due to the price it 'll likely take a little time for it to become super popular + this is 1st gen hardware. It'll get better with time, prices will drop (or be justified with the experience).

I'd say by/around 2020 it'll be as common-place as consoles.

Once it becomes affordable, like an xbox or playstation, to the average person. From the sounds of it, it'll be a $1,000+ setup. Not many people will be willing to spend that kind of money on a first edition that has the potential to be extremely buggy.

exactly this, every invention starts off with a big price tag. So after the first few waves of over priced version 1-4 with only the wealthy enjoying them, they'll start to enter every household.

Have you ever used VR in a game with even a moderate degree of motion? You get motion sickness really easily. I think that's a huge detriment that needs to be addressed (while it may have already been addressed with the PS VR and all that).

Once VR becomes secondary with consoles (like Kinect and motion-sensor technology was paired with consoles starting with PS3 and 360) then it'll be available to a wider user-base and take off.

I think it has advanced a lot and is on the horizon to becomming big. Just look at the newly released Virtual Desktop and it's future possibilities. It's simply amazing.
