For anyone who's used VR would you agree you need a dedicated room in your house for VR? Knocking your limbs against inrl stuff while in the virtual world ruins the experience for me.

This seems to astronomically increase the cost of VR. A $600 headset is one thing but having dedicated space to use it is much more expensive.

Yeah, probably, but there are alternatives, you'll still need room, but maybe not a full room. This seemed pretty interesting last time I saw it: http://infinadeck.com/

Adds in a lot more possibilities and doesn't seem to use up that much room.

Yeah there's at least three of these. I feel like a room with a slippery floor and a harness would work better...

VR studios are popping up at universities all over the place, the one in my city is looking into building one. The limitation is that the virtual space can only be as big as the room itself (so that you don't run into walls). If you wanted the space to be limitless, I don't see how even a full room would solve that problem, and the 2D treadmills would probably be the better option.
