    What is your favorite book?

I'm with Roary with this one.

Definately Harry Potter books. I hardly read books anymore, and the first books I ever started heavily reading was the Harry Potter books.

    What is your favorite book?

Lord of the rings trilogy and the hobbit. Those books had me hooked.

I don't really read single novels unless it's for school, so in terms of single novels then...Brave New World would make the top of that list out of nostalgia.

    What is your favorite book?

I'm currently reading The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini and I must say: a very interesting read so far. I'm only on page 70 or so, but I'm definitely hooked and have a feeling it's going to be a favourite of mine.

    What is your favorite book?

I had to read this for my grade 10 class and I have to say that parts of it were really powerful (and disturbing if you've already read THAT part). Try watching the movie if you haven't already. The books are always better but I feel like this movie was pretty good too.

I'm actually finished now. I was only required to read to chapter 5 for Monday's class, but I couldn't help myself lmao. I've honestly never experienced so many (different) emotions in one book. I even had chills at parts, though I can't relate to any part of the novel. That was definitely an emotional roller coaster though.

I'm actually going to disagree with Nod. I wouldn't suggest reading Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas or Hells Angels first. He didn't really develop his style until after he published Hell's Angels, but you can see the style coming together. I suggest starting with one of his essay collections that collect the essays from either the 60s, the 70s, or the 80s. He remained a good writer until his death but his later stuff just wasn't as good as his early work. Before you go out and buy a book there are numerous websites that have posted a copy of The Kentucky Derby is Decadent and Depraved which is considered the first article in 'new journalism', but specifically Gonzo Journalism which is the style HST fathered.

HST works are considered meta-fiction. Think of them as movies that are based on true events. The events he writes about happened and are true, but the details aren't always true. Sometimes you'll sit there wondering 'Damn, did that really happen?' A lot of the stuff did happen, but what made HST a good writer is that he put himself as a character in a true story. He experienced the events and wrote unabashedly about them, but a lot of articles are really written as Raoule Duke, which was his alter-ego and allowed him to write a very stream-of-consciousness style.
