what do you think about the easing of all lockdowns?

I personally think that it is a very bold move and many more people will die because of this..

I have 2 sides to this.

First and foremost, it's entirely too soon to be opening up the country I totally agree with that. However, I have also seen first hand the destruction that has been caused by lock downs to small businesses where I stay. The PPP loan was a band aid (if you can even call it that because a majority of small business owners didn't even qualify) that is about to be torn off completely showing the ugly truth to business ownership. Depending on what country you reside, things may be better or worse, but I can tell you right now that COVID cases have spiked since states have started reopened and it doesn't seem to be slowing any time soon. I think the road to recovery is going to be long and tough for the world. Things definitely won't jump back to normal (from an economic standpoint) for quite some time in my opinion.

I try to remain as unbiased as possible, and quite frankly, I don't think any president could have done much better as far as pandemics are concerned. Mistakes have been made of course, but it's easy to Monday morning quarterback a situation from the sidelines.

Without a cure.. I would argue to say it’s a bad idea. Despite there being “little deaths” people still have died. I think that’s more than enough to want to stay inside. Especially in the US I mean look at the place.

 

Do you all want jobs to go back to or do you want to sign on welfare instead for an unknown amount of time? Given enough time people's mental health will collapse and they will commit suicide, not to mention other deaths from things like cancer treatment being unavailable and people dying from other causes due to the health system being stretched or unavailable.

What's happening is shit for sure, but we cannot "stay at home" forever (certainly not the rest of the year), a few months of this so far has already caused years of damage to the world economies. At this rate I wonder if there'll be any airliners left for us to go anywhere on holiday when this is all over.

 

So when do you guys feel is the right time, when there's no deaths occurring from the virus? It's primarily the elderly that are dying, children are largely unaffected. Evidence based decisions are being made, people will practice measures of staying safe, masks, social distancing. If we're talking about the UK this isn't a do w/e you want from the 1st of July there are still guidelines, we've passed the peak nows the time to get our lives back on track and not be stuck inside 4 walls.

 

I completely disagree.. i mean people wont follow anything, we are only getting things worse and the right time should be when the government can ensure that if u follow the guidelines u will be safe

 

Feelings are irrelevant, the right time should be determined by independent scientists.

I'm sure most people will be sensible, but surely you understand that reducing restrictions is guaranteed to increase the number of new infections?

We've passed the peak? How do you know that?

 

Not now, not for a long time. This is going to happen again, it started with a few and became millions, there are still infected people and no vaccine. Reopening is going to cause major issues for the USA at least for a long time if they don't realize the trouble they are causing.

 

a terrible idea. countries that have implemented this not even more than a week ago are already seeing how disastrous it can be...

 

unpopular opinion; people dying is a good thing.

World is overpopulated, a good culling has been long overdue. Also world needs people to catch this and recover from it to allow for immunity to spread through the general population.

In the grand scheme of things, the 35000 that have died in the UK is a tiny percentage of the overall population.

Its the worlds way of self correcting itself.

Everyone cant live forever, and with medical advancements over the years we're living longer and longer killing the planet.

Would you say its better we keep expanding our populations and eventually kill the planet like a virus, and then none can survive. Or some can die now, we start to reduce our population via birth control & the human race can continue?

 

I don't disagree with you in saying over population is bad, but we do have medications and such to handle more people. Plus kids don't even value relationships anymore they just get pregnant and shrug it off, then do it again.. which causes stupid over population...

 

It might be a disaster if we open to early I mean they can’t even handle the cases they have in the hospital right now.

There is enough space on this planet for everyone, just not enough infrastructure in place for everyone to have a comfortable life.

However I agree we will all have to "catch it" if no vaccine is developed in a timely manner, this social distancing is murdering world economies right now.

 

Perhaps. I agree with the initial response about the world being overpopulated. I work in the Forestry industry and we see this with wildlife. What we call natural selection and ties in with the term carrying capacity in a given area.

And then the reply about the world not having enough infrastructures... I believe the world would be much « healthier » with a lot more trees, shrubs, wildlife, etc. and less infrastructures.

Though, that’s what the world is now.

I don’t know much about this pandemic as it has not affected us much. We have been living off the grid for over 4 years so we seldom go out or have to go out. And on top of things, I’m on a year parental leave so I have no reason to expose myself or my family.

Interesting times though.
