What do you do when you recieve more change back?

Normally I just drop my shrapnel right into the wallet and don't even check how much is there, for notes and stuff if I get too much I give it back.

 

Well, this never really happens to me unless it's just a dollar bill or two, and even then i give it back. I know how i feel when someone shortchanges me even a dollar or two. Even if it isn't a significant amount of money it's the principle of being honest for me, if i'd give back $100 i should be giving back $1.

 

Would keep the extra change,someone else's mistake is your gain?

 

I've always given it back until I got in a dispute with a cashier a month ago. She scanned something wrong and refused to do it again, when she finally realized her mistake, she also gave me the wrong change(Like 20 cents more I believe).

At this point I was done with it and simply gave the entire change €1.40 -ish to the homeless man outside of the store.

 

first of all i was the only person in line... So the pressure wasnt there or stress. Secondly Ive never worked for a fast food place, because its probaly the shittiest job there is. Honestly if she was fired she'd prolly thank me. 7.85 a hr isnt worth crying about. She wasnt pregnant and she was most likely 16 at best. Its a life lesson she wont forget.

she was a good server honestly and my meal was correct. I do feel bad i usually have manors, open doors and that kind of shit. I just felt it was my day i dunno conceited i guess?

 

lol i just realized i never count my change i just take it and go

I don't if its a big company like mcdonalds or walmart or whatever since they just write that crap off on their taxes and the cashier will keep their job. A mom and pop shop I probably would as it produces actual damage to a community member as opposed to a tax writeoff.

 

just a update for this thread. I recently went back to the same Taco Bell and seen the same cashier. It instantly made me think about the change thing. I really considered trying to jokingly bring it up. But on the other hand she still had her job so all was well. I didnt want to deal with any problems ect. so i kept it to myself.

 

I've been in that position as a cashier were Ive handed out an extra 1 or even 5 because it was stuck to another bill and when people return it it's the greatest feeling. It comes out of their paychecks since its their drawer your not hurting the company your hurting the person. A bit of kindness and integrity can really go a long way.

This is not the case whatsoever they take it from the cashiers pay check because its his fault and if not he could just claim he gave out extra change on accident and pocket it. The cashier incident I wrote about above occurred at McDonalds and 2 times I gave out extra bills and both times they were returned. We ould even give them a free cone or so for their honesty haha.

 

I usually always give it back. But then again it's only like 20-30 cents extra.

 

Personally, when I count my change, firstly I do it right there to make sure they didn't rip me off. and while counting it the whole time I'm hoping that I'll come across a few extra bills. But then again if all you have is 100s, you dont need the money even a 10th of as much as I do lol

In Canada it's against the law for a company to take anything from your pay check, even if you caused it.

 

It happens in the US as far as I know, which is why I always return any extra change

 

It happens in the UK, a lot actually, I am on a salary and don't work on a till, but I know people who have it done to them - which is ridiculas in my eyes

 

My mum deposited about $300k for my dad's work and they handed her back $3k. Major dyslexia?

Another thing that happened was when I was with my dad, he paid with two $100s at work (bought food for everyone) and they gave him like $100 back when he should have only gotten $60.

Obviously, both times, they returned the money on the spot. I've never been that lucky, except, I've found a $20 bill in a parking lot once.

 

i usually glance and just make sure the bills are close. If i notice more i usually take a judgement call. I actually feel bad about the situation now. On a better note i redeemed myself a little. I bought a old lady he couldnt afford cigs at the store a pack when she was denied. So it was a good deeed except im helping kill her =0

edit: i also dont just have 100's. I only had 3 100's on me at that time.

You act like you're taking from the company, but also as someone who has worked a register, if it comes out of your drawer - it comes off of your check.

That's very deceiving of you to knowingly do that. You're also trying to justify doing it because it has happened to you, but 2 wrongs never make a right.

You then claim to believe in karma, but I don't understand how you can break the chain of bad karma if you continuously do bad stuff lol.

And also your "bag" getting stolen was bad karma for doing the drugs in the first place lol

 

I usually don't notice until later, but if i catch it I give it back.

i agree with m0st of what you say. However pot isnt a illegal drug anymore in like 10+ states. Its only a matter of time before its completely legal in the states.
