Anyone can download non-blacklisted keyfiles. It isn't rocket-science to cheat an authentication system, so don't think you're so smart.
Falconskid, if you use Windows, you will most likely need one to keep your computer safe. Personally I use Linux 90% of the time, but even then, I have rather high security measures in place.
Though I love Macs, I must say, it is best to implement SOME sort of security.
Though this didn't happen on a home-computer, I have a prime example.
Cruels.Net, which was run in Linux servers, was infected by a PHP/CGI based virus which edited all index.* files to redirect to a certain IP. This caused Cruels to go down for months, with anyone navigating to Cruels risking downloading a Trojan.
People think that Linux and Mac are invincible against Viruses, but they aren't. They are less susceptible, but they still require some form of security measure.
I still recommend installing some form of security on it.
Also, perhaps you already know this, but be prepared to not use Windows programs (at least not easily). I've seen so many people go to Linux and say it sucks because they can't run their precious World of Warcraft or something.
AVG is a _very_ good internet security suite. Have you seen the professional edition? If I were to compare AVG and Kaspersky, it would be very hard to choose which was better, and Kaspersky has some of the highest rates of virus detection, and some of the best rated service.
