    Someone wants sythe.org down very badly.

    Distributed Http flood attacks
    DDoS attacks
    Distributed connection flood attacks

    All at once. And the people at my host's datacenter just turned the site off and pointed the domain at 1.1.1.1 without asking me.

    I have spent the whole day writing scripts to monitor and deal with the attacks. So far 700 IPs have been null routed (banned.)

    My guess is that the botnet is several times this size, and as the day progresses more bots will come online. So I have left the scripts running to monitor the server.

    If many bots come on at once they can overwhelm it and it will go offline for 10 minutes or so until the scripts can sort it out and settle everything back down.

    Hopefully the attackers will just get bored and leave us alone eventually. But they have been doing this on and off for months now.
