WARNING: Flipping has been nerfed.

Selling your flipped items no longer resets your 4-hour buying limit.

If you don't understand what I'm talking about:

Every item on the Grand Exchange has a 4-hour purchasing limit. That is, you can 
only buy a specific amount of the item every 4 hours. Examples include:
25000 Runes
10 Barrows Items
10 Dragon Weapons
100 Rune Items
1k Saradomin Brews
10k Super Strength Potions

However, for the last year, selling your items back to the GE would reset this
limit. This has been changed. Though you can sell your items back instantly 
(unlike the early days of the GE), you will not be able to buy more for 
4 hours after you bought the first item.

What an end to an otherwise fantastic holiday. Opinions?

 

There was a thread discussing it here, but we weren't able to find out exactly what the new system was.

Wish I'd have known you could sell it back in the first place. Would of helped a lot with herb cleaning. I'm glad, never liked merchers tbh

Actually, flipping minimizes your loss (A RS player) when you buy something and sell it back instantly or within a few minutes/hours. Without people flipping, the margin would widen. I've lost quite a bit already because of this update. The gap when buying and selling items are huge, an example is I lost 2M on an arcane shield after using it for 20 minutes. Less people buying and selling = bigger gap in buy and sell price. Not to mention it's riskier to flip now. If anything, flipping merchants helped the RS economy. You should read this post if you're looking for a more detailed explanation on how they helped.

You hate the long term merchers. And this is only bringing them back. Like the clans before FT that would heavily invest in an item and make billions. It's the same now, it's now more profitable then flipping by far.

Really bad update, Jagex continues to surprise me that they could get disappointed me even more after their previous fail updates.

 

My dislike for merchants has nothing to do with their effect on the game. I just dislike a person who would rather buy and sell virtual items than actually play the game. That's just my opinion though, no need to take it to heart

I had a friend who scripted his own flipping bot a few months back. It made him a lot of money but sucks for him that they nerfed it.

 

Do you happen to know what he was flipping? For awhile flipping low phats was absolutely insane profits (5m+/hour), but that dried up pretty shortly after I started.

Still not commenting in case I decide to sell whatever the bot was again. I just wanted to make it clear I was neither announcing nor denying it's a flipping bot.

Oh man... I hate this update. Flipping was one of my way to earn quick money.

 

Good thing I don't know how to flip.

 

They nerfed the best way to make money on my skiller...

This annoyed me. A lot.

 

They nerfed another great way to make cash. This update sucks and I can't find a good reason for it fagex.. Oh well back to staking I guess.

Flipping hasn't been nerfed.. unless you only started playing RS a year ago, it worked before the limit was removed, and will afterwards too.

 

I still have an item that I do not make much off of, but I do make about 100k on a flip which to me is decent when it's comign from doing nothing as I ussualy just have a cash pile in my bank that I don't spend, so why not flip for a few hundred k instead of nothing? this update will slow it down, but I'm not gunna stop doing it.
