    Want to Dunk?

Very nice guide. I'm 5'11, 208 lbs. I never could dunk, more of a MMA, track guy myself.

10/10 guide though. Very detailed, and long as can be, but I finally read all of it.

    Want to Dunk?

I'm 15, 5ft 9in, and I have a 6ft wing span. The problem is I'm only about 10 inches away from the rim. How long do you think until I am able to actually dunk the ball using this guide? If it helps I weigh about 130lbs.

    Want to Dunk?

Also which method of jumping do you think can maximize my ability, 2 feet jump or 1 foot jump. Thanks again, your help is appreciated.

Do you have any prior plyometric training or strength training done on your legs? If you've never trained your legs in any way, you will get fast gains at the start. I can't tell you how long exactly because it depends on how hard you train. 10 inches away from touching the rim means that you would most likely need at least 15 more inches to actually dunk a basketball, assuming you can somewhat palm the ball.

Which way do you jump higher.. off of 1 foot or 2? There is no one way that is better because depending on the person you may be better at one then the other.

    Want to Dunk?

It's a decent guide, but it's very generalized, and learning the proper jump technique will also help a lot. Most people do not know how to jump correctly, that includes even college and NBA athletes.

Second, race does actually have an impact on your jumping ability. Certain races have more fast twitch muscle fibers which has a lot to do with your jumping ability. Obviously, anyone can jump high who trains properly, but some people do have a head start due to race/genetics.
