I'd like to note that I don't know who the hell Persia is, but from is signature I can relate to him that yes, we maybe actively advertising for PhotonVPS with the affiliate banner in our signatures, but we only do so because we faithfully believe in the services that they provide. Yes, I have experienced their outsource customer service, but they are second to none in terms of quality.

Kiwi, you are the owner of Seerhost, I respect that. But as the owner of a company, should you really be sticking your head out here? I mean, don't you have better things to be doing? Seriously lol, I know for a fact that the Director of Operations over at PhotonVPS has better things to be doing than lurking around on Sythe. I'm sure he's over at Web Hosting Talk dealing with customers over there. I mean, me and Persia aren't going to sit here and argue with you over the fact of whether or not you oversell your services. It is apparent that both me and him are familiar with the webhosting industry and that OpenVZ is a serious red flag for anyone serious about what kind of services their getting.

That aside, I leave this post congratulating you on marketing to dumb botters on this website and have fun selling your trash. When you guys get XEN up on your site, then maybe I'll consider even using your company. But as of now, me and you both know that the gold farmers here stick to using dedicated servers or even XEN.

 

This is probably going to be a nub questions and you guys can flame me about it because I think the answer is pretty obvious but i'm still curious. I have been running multiple bots lately, 4 on my laptop and then some on a couple different vps's, well I just hit 85 dungeon on one account and went to frost dragons to bot. This was the only client running on this vps and it was still laggy and would mess up on clicking the bank because of the lag and then shut down after getting into the collection box. Well earlier today just by chance I shut down 3 of the 4 bots that were running on my laptop and now the frost dragon bot on the vps has been running smooth and hasn't missclicked the bank once in 4 hours so far.

My question is this, if I am viewing a vps through a vps viewer just watching the bot and due to my laptops connections and resources already being pushed, the four bots, could this possibly create lag on the vps or is it just merely coincidence that after I shut a few of the laptop bots off it has been running well?

and if it is possible that it creates a lag then theoretically just closing the vps viewer window should take care of that right?

 

Yes BCDProductions and I have never spoken or met except maybe through our dialogue here on this thread. What we have in common was simply our like for our provider, which happened to be photon. I found it a funny coincidence as well.
Also I currently run openvz virtualization on a dedicated box, have created containers (vps) to run multiple IP's and know how easy it is to deceive using that platform. I can create myself a 4GB vps give it 1GB vps resources and low cpu usage, it appears to be 4gb vps to anyone else but in all actuality the resources are easily limited by my console. If I were a quality provider I would gladly switch to Xen, but there is little money in that and alot in selling Openvz due to more containers. Plainly put the numbers can be skewed in favor of a few extra bucks.
I never would accuse anyone of overselling without having compared services resources etc. I would just much rather get more for my $$ and my personal observation was that I got more cpu power on a Xen based platform. Personally I use openvz though, but I'm not a provider.

tl;dr As a customer get Xen, as a provider use Openvz.

I have a really important question for you pros

I use photon vps xen warp 2 with 1G of ram and 2Gs of swap space.
That aside, I am able to run 2 decent bots with the 1G of ram without going over but sometimes I run 3-4 while putting me over the 1G of ram but using my swap space, I wanna know if it's ok to use swap space because 1 day i was at 1G of swap used with 1G left, the next day I check on my vps(bots still running) and i see that Ive only used 300mb of swap with 1.7G free??? So WTF is it ok to eat into your swap space, if it is ok I should be able to run 4-5 bots on warp 2!!

Photon will contact you eventually if you run too many bots, I ran 3 on Warp 2 for a while and was contacted by the engineer that it damages the node.

Just enjoy the great performance with two.

Someone might be abusing the sources on your node. What package do you have and what are you botting?

I use Seerhost and AFTER I got it set up I haven't had any problems with them so stop calling it trash.

 

I <3 Seerhost, My personal favourite, Cheap, Realiable, Easy to set-up. Currently own 5 vps's with them

 

i'm looking for the cheapest VPS available that can run an internet browser and have an auto clicker click on something in that browser, can anyone recommend me such a VPS? thx. cheaper would be better.

 

You can get a BEAM 1 PhotonVPS for ~$11 a month, then just install firefox on it and a linux Autoclicker program.

 

is beam 1 photonvps the cheapest that can do this? i looked at other vps sites that are in >$5 price range but unfortunately they require you to install your own OS and everything.

 

Installing your own OS is easy and you should learn it eventually anyways if you want to bot on VPS'

Right guys, I think it's time I finally got in on this. I have set up a few bots on my own computer and i'm ready to make the move to VPS

I've read the past few pages, so PhotonVPS is the best bet then it seems.. but Persia - did you say your runecrafting bots keep crashing with them? If that's the case i'll have to find a different provider. :huh:

I remember hearing about how Photon crashes if there are too many instances of java loaded, can anyone confirm?

I'm looking to run 3 runecrafting bots, what package would best suit me?

I'm open to all providers atm, one that would give the least down time, relatively easy to set up and doesn't give hassle with java would be ideal.

My Runecrafter bots were crashing on my dedicated server as well as on PhotonVPS, most people use Photon so they assumed it was provider related we later proved it to not be related to Photon at all. Currently I run multiple RC bots now with no problems. I think the recent client updates on Nexus fixed the problem.

I've spent $500+ on Photon services so far and am extremely satisfied. Although I also wasted some money on crap service before I found a quality provider, which is why I would recommend them.

 

I am currently running 2 VPS's from Photon vps.
They both are xen warp 3 ( 2gp with 4gp swap each ).

I've heard you can only bot on xen's so thats why i bought them.
With my Pure Essence bot's i can easily bot 5 on each without any lag.
I wouldn't be suprised if i could bot 8 of them on each.

If you want to bot 4-6 sorc garden bots Just get one Warp 3 ( and use a coupon)

What's going on here how can I have free CPU yet be using SWAP? Is this an issue that I need to sort out?
