Theres also no proof that Jesus ever existed in the first place, so you can't really discredit those claims either.

I'm atheist, but he did exist. Like whoever said it after your post, your a fool if your to attempt to deny it. You don't need to be so fierce about being atheist. Let people believe what they want without ridiculing them for doing so.

Your not miniature mastermind, so stop acting like one >.<

If you think that he existed, why don't you post evidence of it then?

Exactly, but you don't ignore the evidence in support of the opinion just because its only an opinion. You don't say, "Oh well its not a proven fact so I'll just ignore the possibility that it could be true". A historical man named Jesus ever existing is just an opinion if you put it in the terms that you're using.

No.. even your history books say otherwise.

Lil wayne man.. You never heard weezy rap before? Man, you're missing out..

Yet none of what you just said relates at all to the post I made. I think you're the one who is high.

Lmfao, k, lemme make it a bit clearer. Time originated with these people. That's the reason we still go by the established "time" to this day, not because of Christianity. Time was B.C, too.. durrr. :p

do you have evidence that he didn't exist? K.

No.. even your history books say otherwise.

A textbook claiming something doesn't make it true. Whether all the textbooks in the world say that there was a historical man named Jesus, there isn't any evidence of it.

That still doesn't relate the the age of the earth according to the Bible. It adds up the genealogies (sp) of the first men until it gets to 0 C.E. Then it adds 2007 years to get to our age. Thus the age of the earth is supposedly 6000 or so years old.

do you have evidence that he didn't exist? K.

The evidence that there was no historical man named Jesus is the lack of evidence that there was.

K, then who made him up?

I was just trying to explain how we got to where we are today. Sumerians were the first civilized people. the time/calendar we follow today has nothing to do with the Bible.

The evidence that there was no historical man named Jesus is the lack of evidence that there was.

Ommfgg, that confused me for like 10 minutes straight.. but, after rereading it a thousand times, I came up with the conclusion that you were just trying to throw me off :p. There is no evidence that there was no historical man named Jesus, so your statement isn't true. MFG that made my head spin.

It started as a myth that people started to believe, then eventually it became fact.

Oh ok. I thought that was somehow related to my post on the supposed age of the earth.

Gah you still didn't get it. The only evidence that you can find against something happening (or existing in this case) is:

1. Something happening that would prevent the initial statement from happening.
2. The lack of evidence for it happening.

The lack of evidence for the initial statement happening is evidence for it not happening.

Anybody could say that.. proof?

Ok, so back to opinions. Yours is. That's just some theory/rule that you or someone made up and applied it to your every day life..

Thats the most logical explanation if you look at other instances of these kinds of myths. Nobody believes in Mithra today do they? And why not? Because nobody believes there was ever a person called Mithra. Sure his life may parallel that of Jesus, but nobody believes there was ever a historical Mithra to begin with. If Jesus hadn't been slid into history, there would be no basis for believing the myth in the first place.

If you ever get the time or interest, watch "The God who Wasn't There".

Who invented that little rule is irrelevant. Any more options you can find to add to the list? Those are the only ones I could think of.

There IS proof he existed. It was on the History Channel & Google. Owned.

Care to share any of it?

Okay, fine, let's go by logic. Is it logical to assume that some random story teller started a myth about somebody named Jesus in which that story teller succeeded in "brainwashing" the millions of Christian followers that we have today? Nope, not very likely.. but it is the only pathetic explanation atheists have. Just like evolution. Just like the big bang.

yea, you could show actual proof that he didn't exist. but, then again, you can't because there isn't any [just like the absence of proof that he did exist, but w/e.. you do your thing; i'll do mine]

You're looking at it the wrong way. The video explains it very well. There was a gap between the supposed time of Jesus's death and the time when the Gospels were written. Nobody believed there was a Jesus then, because they had no account of it. When the Gospels were written, people had something to go by. Eventually, they became the equivalent of historical fact as more people started to believe in the myth.

I agree with RiP CiTy... If you think this is going to change peoples mind about there religion well I guess you must be wrong... I have experienced the holy spirit and the mircles of God and I know he is real.

Amen.

You do realize that those were different times when people didn't have freedom to believe such things, right? People of the time wouldn't be tricked in to believing a myth when their life was in danger for believing it...

People won't care if their life is in danger if they believe the myth to be true now will they? If its true, then when they die they will just end up in heaven. Seems like they would have a lot more to gain by believing it.

No, their mission was to spread the word, not be martyred... Proof of this? We have the word today meaning not everyone was persecuted by the Roman empire. Seriously, think before you talk. Your answers are two dimensional.

What are you trying to say? It seems that your answer has nothing to with what I posted. Care to expound a bit?

Others have had experiences that disproved the existence of God to them. Your experiences are not "proof".

Also, I was once a fervent Christian. However, countless debates on Sythe.org opened my eyes to the fact that I wasn't thinking logically. Once I began, I couldn't stop, and so, I became an Atheist.

Ehh.. just an unproven theory. =/

And you're not supposed to look at it that way.. Go by the gap between Jesus' death and the time the Gospels were written, not by the time of his birth. Also, the reason there was a gap was because, back then, people would mainly communicate by word of mouth, but, the disciples feared shit would be lost over time so they decided to put it in writing before they died.

And by once again using logic and reasoning.. does it seem plausible that the apostles could bullshit about something so detailed about one man including a bunch of random accounts of miracles? They didn't even know the earth was round or that it orbited the sunnnn; how could they be smart enough to be so detailed about the life of Jesus? And, WHY put that much effort/stress and RISK YOUR LIFE for something you can't even benefit from? that video is completely flawed. it's a piece of shit.
