Trusted Paypal/Paypal verification system.

I think this is a good idea but the screenshots could be easily edited.

 

Although I agree that this wouldnt be a method for mods to cash out on, I feel a fee wouldnt be excessive. In addition to compensating the mod for their time, including a small fee in the process would be another simple step in deterring scammers from making new accounts, getting 5 trades and $50+ successfully, 50 post count, and paying the verification fee. Too much work IMO for a scammer to do over and over.

True, which is why you would need to provide outside evidence of the trade (ideally a vouch or MSN screeny of the trade would suffice).

 

i was saying that people, no matter what, can always claim and cancel on paypal. With one phone call, you can have your account refunded.

 

Still would like to hear some opinions from a few globals or an admin.

Too time consuming and we wouldn't let non-staff do this. You don't know how much we are already harassed.... this would make it even worse. I'd have people bugging me to 'verify' them all the time.

 

First off, I am pretty sure my proposal aims to use the market sectionals as the driving force behind it.

Secondly, if you read through the whole post, you would have seen that the actual process to "verify" would be primarily on the users themselves to complete all the steps, then it simply takes 2-3 minutes for the mod to finish the verification. outside of the last effort on the mod's part though, very little of their involvement is required for the actual process.

This would be 10x faster than say, verifying an xfer guide, so don't really see the issue of time constraints.

I think it is a great idea, but the process of checking through everyone's paypal would be a very hard task. Did you know I got my 2nd trade at 100 posts? I only got my 5th probably a month ago. (wasn't very active trader) but now I have my paypal BANK verified. So I don't worry too much. But about the whole thing, there should be something in everyone's signature that says so? If someone would try to copy this, each one should be a template or something. Like

I'm Sleeping - Verified $50 paypal - Plznate
meaning whoever it is, the amount verified, and who verified it.

I really don't see a big difference between doing a scam report and doing this process. This would not take long, and theres probably not as many people that would use this as theres scam reports.

If you don't want to get pm's saying to verify their paypal, then make a sticky stating that if you PM a mod to verify your paypal, your thread will be trashed or getting an infraction for ignoring the stickys.

then no support, you can already judge if you trust somebody by their vouches, this paypal thing just says they traded X amount of times without chargebacks. But they had chargedback they should be in the scammer section, and what stops them from charging back after the screenshot?

 

1. It's easy to edit screenshots, collaborate with other scammers, use peripheral paypals, or simply use a stolen paypal for the payments. Faking the in-game trades to support it is not too difficult either - not to give anyone ideas, but rehosting someone else's proofs would be the easiest method. The MM application isn't abused the same way since it requires far more than 5 proofs, and thus much more effort - also, it would be futile if the member weren't already well-known and trusted by staff.

2. There's really no set time limit on chargebacks; any user can be "legit" until they pass the application, then reverse said payments at a later date.

If anything, I would simply encourage traders to state in their vouches whether paypal was used, and update their vouch if something goes wrong.

 

Why do you need to have 100 posts anyways?
I have less than 100 but I have done over 40 trades now. And have handled more than 200$ on sythe already haha.

 

I think it's a good idea you've come up with.

One problem would be, PayPal has a really long time-span of when you can chargeback. If your account gets limited (Which it can even if you're verified) PayPal automatically hold the money, and if they believe your account is potentially at high risk, they return all the money you've sent out and give you a couple of weeks to withdraw it to your bank account, then close your account. Regardless, it's a good idea, and can benefit the blackmarket in many aspects.

Personally, I'd suggest more people to sign up to Moneybookers which doesn't allow chargebacks and such, but I guess paypal is the most popular.

 

Good idea, but sadly impossible for me. I am ip flagged and as soon as i create account i get limited.

Haha Bourne, I'm IP Flagged also. But I don't see why people don't sign up to moneybookers, it's 100% safe, and no need to worry about people charging you back and such.

 

People could abuse this system by say, getting a friend to send them money, doing so with multiple people, and in the end refund each one. If I read correctly. Otherwise, it seems like a pretty good idea.

I greatly approve of this idea! This would be much safer, It can safely assure you are having a safe trade. I hate it when your money gets reversed and to be honest, this also leads to a worse thing in my opinion; Limited PayPal account.

Also, I think there should maybe be a status under your account like the "$5 Donator Status" the new status should be like "Verified PayPal" or "PayPal Safe" something different probably, but anyway; we would need new staff members/special MM's to do this job.

I myself would be happy to do PayPal verifying for people as I am a very experienced PayPal user. I may be a leaeher but I am experienced with PayPal.

What the PayPal verifiers SHOULD do: Contact the person who needs verifying. Get the person to show screen-shots or a video if necessary, Once it is verified, they could PM a person with the authority to add the status to the account.

What these PayPal verifiers should NOT do: Ask for PayPal password, to log on account. That may introduce into a HUGE scam, We need to keep it safe.

there shouldn't be a fee to get your PayPal verified by a Mod/PayPal verifier, It should just be one of the things that a volunteer mod or someone who has the time to do it. (ME ) This is a great idea I think. Also it is a safe option because all they need to provide is pictures (normally more than 1, just for safety)
