Getting caught up on a minor point to the suggestion. The specific requirements of the system could be tweaked and fine tuned as needed on what staff sees appropriate.

Again another minor point. Utilizng all 6 market mods for it would be an excellent choice, which i will edit into my OP. Also, 200,000 members are not going to try and apply for this, and a mod doesnt even need to spend time on one until it is fully completed. If mods can handle pages and pages of spam reports a day, this would be a minor inconvenience. I think if all the market mods were to have perms to it, it would be efficient.

Exactly my point. I too am very wary of accepting paypal. This would be a solid method of giving some comfort to sellers in deciding if they can trust a paypal. Obviously if someone had their paypal verified up to $200 plus or something, and this was shown in their thread, I would be willing to take paypal from them.

Again this would not be a method of assuring trust; like vouches, this would simply be an additional option that a member can look into when deciding the trustworthiness of another member and in their decision of whether or not to deal with them.

I'm not so-much getting caught up on a minor point, but more-so bringing it to face as it is a minor flaw. If the requirements can be tweaked, then why not do so to make the suggestion more firm?
It would be an excellent choice to utilize them, but their support to this suggestion would be crucial, as they would be the one's most likely forced to take care of this verification process. I did not say that 200,000 members are going to apply for this, which is why I included that not all of them are active. However, there are already plenty of users that meet the requirements to be classified having a verified paypal, so the requests to be verified would be in very high demand at first, possibly making the process tiresome for the Mods asked to complete the process.
For those having a verified PayPal, I still would most likely not even consider trading them if they had a verification of at least $1000.00 and up, as $200.00 is not so-much a comfort zone for me to trust a user with a large sum of money.
Yes, and as previously stated, I understand this.

Looks like given those minor tweaks, and upon the positive input of the market mods, then we are pretty much in agreement on the methods that this could be utilized : D

Yes. It seems to be that way. I would suggest you PM the Market Mods and/or higher ups to take a position on your suggestion. Only then will you know where it needs to be improved and/or if you have the support of the Staff on your side.

Plznate.. Dude you have my eye of respect along with the great work putting this together, however to be honest this just seems like too much effort vs. the returns. As a Mod, there is no way in hell I would want anything to do with this.. However, I only had 24-hours of seeing there were way to many other tasks to accomplish.

Want to verify something, allow members to sign a release to verify their personal details to include home of record and contact details.. Knowing a member's info would be dumped in my lap following a review with the proof which found him to be a scammer. I'd vote for that. Once again, great working putting this idea to text for review.

It is a good idea, but I think it would be too long winded.

I love this Idea. This would prevent charge backs and would stop alot of 12yr old scammers on sythe. IMO

Preventing the ability to chargeback/reversal is not necessarily a "good" thing.

Would not really PREVENT charge backs. Simply would show proof that a member has a good trade history using paypal. Nothing more, nothing less.

I'd think this would be a quicker system but plznate idea is still a +1 none the less.

    Only 2 screens needed.

Only question is how to display that a member is PP Verified if this is the goal.

Thats not the point of this thread, obviously if you have a paypal, people know you have a paypal. The point of this method would be to show you have a paypal which you have used to conduct successful trades without any problems or reversals.

    see above.

Not only could this make people feel more comfortable in not being scammed however it also makes the trader safer in another way.

When trading with an unverified PayPal, it is incredibly easy to get limited. When you are limited, PayPal often puts a dispute on a few of your earlier transactions. This is generally the ones PayPal find fishy, so even though it can be a completely legit trade, everything goes well, but then PayPal charge you back, meaning someone loses what could be possibly a large amount of cash.

Being verified (Bank verified I believe is safer) means MUCH lower chance of being limited. Lower chance of being limited means less likely to have PayPal dispute some of your previous transactions which means safer for people to trade with you.

But (Yes, there is ALWAYS a but) it will take time, and whether the Staff of Sythe want to go through checking a bunch of PayPal's checking there verified is not exactly something many would look forward to. If this is the reason your suggestion is rejected, then what if it became a "Paid" service?

Moderators (Probably Market & Global) can charge maybe a small fee? This not only makes up for the moderators time, but it can also possibly prevent people attempting to get there PayPal's verified for trust so they can scam.

Your opinion on a fee would be much appreciated Nate.

My paypal history is perfect of course but for some reason I sent a guy $10 and it automatically reversed. I didn't do anything but just look at my screen and they gave me my money back.

I get your point plz, a screenshot with transaction history is a good idea.

While were waiting on this we could demand to see the transaction history of those we trade with if possible.

The Moderators are here to assist other users. They are not made Staff Members to make money, unfortunately. If this system was implemented for Staff to make money, it would not portray the ideals that Plznate is trying to accomplish here.

    You make a fair point.

However, it'd be a lot like OMMing (Except you need to be a staff member to do so.)

Think about it, as an ex moderator, would you like to spend an hour a day checking people's PayPals for free? Or would rather earn something for your time?

Also, it's not as if Moderators HAVE to do it, they can just create a service, etc.
