Trade X Miniranks for a Funrank

People get a lot of minis and if we want to continue with the minirank rewards for participation in events they are going to start stacking up even more. Some peoples posts are annoyingly big(to me) because their minis stack so high. Would be cool to give those people the alternative, to permanently trade their minis for a funrank or a new funrank, "Mini Master"?

This would be a good way to permanently clean off surplus minis.

I see "do not request custom fun rank". Not sure if this fits in that category. If so, lock, delete, whatever.

Exactly. I just checked and your user area is 100 pixels taller than mine by default. Every time you post you take up 100 or more more pixels than most everyone else.(considering I also have minis you're actually even more than that than most users) But keep posting away That's not my point. Would just be cool to create a way to clean some of that off in a fun way, aka FUN ranks.

 

Funranks are meant to be special, this makes it too easy to get them. No support imo

 

Would increase value of minis so they'd be harder to get. Also I didn't specify how many minis. Could require a lot, meaning it's not easy to get. Maybe you have to trade x UNIQUE minis.

And it will only get harder to get the fun ranks. Because once someone trades in a bunch of minis, there'll be that many less minis to try and get the fun rank with.

 

Hmm that's true, but other than that I think it ruins the fun of fun ranks a little bit. There supposed to be something that's hard to get and awesome when you can, not something that's buyable if u have enough cash.

 

I feel like it makes sense. Fun ranks and minis are very similar. The minis represent a lot of history on Sythe. Trading in that history for a fun rank sounds right in my mind. Also I betcha only a few people would end up with the fun rank. So it wouldn't devalue fun ranks imo. It would only reduce the number and increase value of minis.

Also, if the fun rank was a new "Mini-Master" it wouldn't devalue the current fun-ranks. That would be like saying your two Sythe group fun-ranks ruin the fun of fun-ranks just because you felt like joining those groups.

I guess that depends on how you define rare/special. Pretty much everyone has a fun rank. So it's not really rare or special. If you're talking about non-group/mod/donation fun-ranks, it still wouldn't really threaten that depending on how the requirements are tweaked. I think it would be pretty rare/special for someone to collect enough to get this fun-rank. Say it had to be worth 50 miniranks, 25 of which have to be unique. No one currently meets that requirement that i know of.(Except Mootrucks, not sure how he got all those boxes and minis, so maybe the reqs should be a little more steep) And then once someone reaches that mark, then there's 50 less minis for someone to go for another. And 50 less minis cluttering the site.

I don't think anyone values/cares about miniranks, where as, fun ranks still maintain a sense of achievement/novelty, and people generally work towards getting one.

There have been quite a few events handing out fun ranks and there's a raffle right now giving them out. The same way miniranks are given out, just a little more rare. So, we're already equating their value with eachother on some level. This would just extend that a little more.

I've already addressed that concern. Maybe read and come up with a CONSTRUCTIVE response.





I'm not looking to fight an uphill battle on this one. I just see the miniranks starting to overflow and if the events continue that'll only worsen. I've already addressed the main counters I anticipate this receiving so I think I'll leave it at that. Even if the counters are emotional vs logical, I still view it as valid since it is really about what the community wants. I think we can close this.

 

Just sell them.

Miniranks are meant to be more populous that fun ranks and Sythe does not want fun ranks proliferating the forums. I would support more fun ranks being given out, but not through the exchanging of ranks; rather, occasional competitions (most recent Sythe Raffle) and perhaps another fun-rank design competition.
