I see tons of mods and admins locking threads they deem not to be relevant to the forum, but is biased based on their personal opinions. I think the only threads that should be locked should be those that breaks the rules. Threads with much flaming should just have the disruptive posts deleted, and authors infracted.

Threads like these don't deserve to be closed, if you think otherwise, please state why. The Off-Topic should be a forum opened to talk about anything, with an open discussion about it, not closed. Sure, if it has an irrelevant topic, such as pornography or self promotion, threads should be closed. If you feel a thread keeps going to the top, and point is proven, you should leave it unlocked. It will eventually be old, and gives everyone a right to their opinion.

and thousands more..

A forum is made for discussion, not reading threads to find out it's closed for discussion. Please staff.. Have courtesy for us regulars who wish to express our thoughts and opinions, then locking us out.

This is Sythe.org. You're not allowed to have an opinion or make threads about the staff unless you're sucking up to them.

They are locked, because moderators do not think they are worth the conversation.

Threads such as "attack pen" were locked by Pen, duh; they were posted to get Pen's attention so of course your going to get a reaction.

As for threads about boys vs girls... it's been dealt with, what else do you need to say about it?

Also threads are locked for things such as gravedigging (http://sythe.org/showthread.php?t=443680) etc, if it wasn't you'd be annoyed by all the grave digging going on.

Trolling threads are just an excuse for leechers to get their post counts up... such as http://sythe.org/showthread.php?t=475536 and yours.

EDIT: However, since your talking about Off-topic board; I'll keep an eye on it.

What's wrong with gravedigging if the topic is still relevant and the new post is useful?

x9: You're always, always, always, always complaining about something since you were demoted. If you so blatantly detest this site and it's customs so much, why don't you just leave?

Curt: Absolutely, I agree. I wrote a topic in Something for All a few days ago, and as far as I'm concerned, there was no reason to lock it. Nonetheless, it was locked without any given justification.

Plenty. Gravedigging outside of the SPAM forum is obnoxious. The conversation died, and there's no reason for you to contribute more to the thread if it hasn't been discussed in over 2 weeks.

The only time Gravedigging is OK, is if the thread is on the first page near the top. Which means you didn't hunt for a thread just to post something that's long died away.

I do, however, agree with Curt.

Nathan is doing fantastic in MAINTAINING the forum, however, let it go just a bit man ^.^.... I see Swan and Nathan going on about the section getting "SPAM" in it, and moving it to SPAM, when, in fact, it isn't SPAM at all.

I've taken a chill pill, so I'll be less of a nazi in there ^_^

Nathan is one of the only staff that does their job right, though some threads may not be needed to be moved to the spam forum.

As for gravedigging, if this was really an issue, why not have the admins set the board to automatically prune / move the non-stickied threads that haven't been posted on for a week to the archives?

Moderators may not think a thread is worth the conversation, but everyone else should be entitled to their own opinions. A staff discussion on locking a a thread may be too much work, but maybe a moderator should think twice about how other people wish to contribute to the thread.

I've been contributing to threads, then ending up not being able to post because the threads get locked for the regular users. People who post also wish to see a reply to their opinion, would get pretty anxious to know the conversation is closed for discussion.

Anyways, think twice before using moderation privileges on certain threads, people do wish to contribute and make the forum more active, but cannot because a quarter of the interesting debating threads are locked.

What constitutes a 'spammy' thread and one that's worthy of the high and mighty off-topic forum is entirely up to the bias of the moderator viewing, just as in a jury.

I agree with you, but you're complaining because people are using their opinions?

2nd one isn't locked. (Anymore?)

3rd one: there has been lots of threads, and this is only since the time I've been here, about the existence of God.
(although some of the atheist mods could of locked it because of their belief)

The others, you are correct on.

I made a post in the Off-Topic last week to discuss the VP debates. Shredderbeam (or one of the other mods, I'll have to check) came in, stated that they hate both of the candidates, and locked the thread.

/fail for free speech?

I believe that moderators should be infracted if they close threads or give infractions without a valid reason. We need to keep this community fair for everyone.

One problem...

Sythe doesn't like American politics, and moderators have the right to close topics that are too trolly ^.^...

And no moderators will be infracted, they simply get talked to/demodded. etc.

Good point, except for the fact that there weren't any posts on my thread before it got locked ;)

I know I can't expect a site run by teenagers to "fair", but you can't blame me for wishful thinking.

Oh did I miss all of their 13th birthday parties?

i think that most threads lock aren't relevent and deserve to be locked. we have a spam forum, perhaphs they should be moved into a new section where you can still talk and THEN they can be locked if still found to be useless and the convo is "dead"
