    a few simple solutions...
    - do all trades in pm. (easy to ban the scammers, since u can report)
    - use an admin or mod mm... very trusted only.

will kinda stop ppl some scams from happening.

I don't see how someone gets joy out of scamming or conning for a quick buck, I mean, wouldn't you rather make it with utmost honesty? Wouldn't it give you a sense of accomplishment? As apposed to scamming someone and gloating?

    For example:
    Noob:
    I scammed someone!
    Friend of the noob:
    You're a dick. Blocked.

    Or:

    Player 1:
I just sold my rune pure for 2m, now I can afford my BGS! :D
    Player 1's friend:
Congratz dude! Come max on me in duel arena!

Scamming someone would make me feel terrible, but for the most part guilty, even if I didn't know them. I know this is the internet, but I respect every one and anyone, this is a community, not a school yard, you should have respect for every member of Sythe, after all, they are living, breathing people just like yourself. I spit on scammers, and I hope they all have karma come around with Chuck Norris at it's side and roundhouse kick them in the face.

People scam because they can make money without giving anything away themselves.

Trades in pms would take hours, that's why instant messengers ar used. And what's wrong with screen shotting?

If someone wants an mm, they have to go find one. It's your fault if you do a trade with a fraudulent mm. Officials cost money, and aren't always available. Admins aren't usually willing to take part in trades.

you're probably a ban evader yourself.

This is today's community itself, a vicious and conniving community. People only care about one thing coming to this site usually- to scam; which is a shame.. We can't change the way people think, just get rid of them. Banning their account alone isn't going to do anything, and most people won't use proxies, only a small percentage. But something does need to happen..

If people are banned, there is generally a reason behind it.

It really reminds me of the scene in Scarface where Tony first meets Frank Lopez after Tony's friend was killed.

Frank says:"If people would do business the right way, there'd be no ****-ups like this."

It gets me thinking, if everybody just were to play fair, make good deals, contribute instead of trying to profit illigitimately. Everybody would be happier, anybody could get all the GP the want, membership when they want it, and not have to be constantly watching their backs.

Humanity is the problem, humans are instinctively greedy, and quite impulsive. They don't see that scamming people now will likely have a bad effect on them in the future as eventually they will run out of chances and not be able to get the deals they actually need.

Really, as a new member I may be biased, but I think people are wrong in blaming it on the people who are new to the Sythe community, it just seems like they are the ones responsible as the old rulebreakers have been dealt with already.

Although, I likely have no say in this matter at all. I think what we need is an official GP seller, an official membership seller, an official account buyer/seller and so on. They would be able to charge more as nobody would be scared of being scammed from them. Other people could still sell cheaper, but you'd be undertaking more of a risk. I know I wouldn't be opposed to spending a million or so more for a membership if I could eliminate the risks of being scammed.

This is really bad. Recently I tried to sell my account everyone who tried to buy it was a scammer 4/4. Good thing I had recovers and a pin. Eh? The idea of selling runescape accounts is totally corrupted. If you get lucky you might get money at first for selling your account, even then it can all be taken back. With paypal charge-backs are possible leaving the seller with nothing. Any account can be easily recovered by the original creator leaving the buyer with nothing or if he used paypal he/she can recover their loss. Not enough harsh disciplinary action is being taken, which means this site has no where to go but down. This all shows people by nature tend to value their privileges over their principles. Hopefully someone can design a safe method of trading accounts at some point.

He's banned for ripping a guide, not scamming though. While the scammers/leechers/ban-evaders must stay because they bring in "hits" to the site [and lots of posts/money from clicking ads/etc.], I definitely think *something* needs to be done. I have no clue what, but definitely something to reduce the number of scammers/spammers/morons.

You are what is wrong with this community captain moron, You QQ about bans yet you got banned. All in all The mods here do a great job of bann hammering those ban evaders, and yet more and more trusted people turn out to be scammers.

Mr goosey, Andrew, Lots of forgotten "Offical MM's" the list goes on,

then we have those TWC people who the mods KNOW have done something wrong/are planning to/are in leage with morons (etc sigex) and these noobs get off scott free, Basically all banned members should be I.P Banned, ALONG with the TWC nubs as its only a matter of time before they get banned too.

The more pro-active we are about weeding our crap from the gold, the more gold we have. Geddit? :)

Misunderstanding? Yes - why are you unbanned?

You ripped a Guide for your assignment from TD, which is a Perm Ban.
    -Stated in the Stickies.

Perhaps you could post something in the Spam Forum?

    ________________________________________________

Emperical evidence of these many bans?

And the point is that people scam, and will continue to scam, and don't worry about it.
-Mods are around to stop these scammers, and if you have a problem with it...

Would you rather them all be unbanned as well, so you could have a nice page of non-banned members?
-Rather than all the people banned for scamming, as Mods do their job.
