My comments: Once how others perceive you affects your personal decisions you lose control of who you are.

 

People will do crazy things to seek approval.

I believe once someone has had it, they crave it.

 

Internet pornography.

 

The feeling of power would also be very addictive.

If you're talking about literal addictions as in "something you get hooked on" then no, I can't agree it's the worst addiction. Drugs still top public approval as far as mortality rate goes.. though one could argue that a good portion of the people who get hooked on drugs started off doing them to fit in...

I can only recall one story where someone's death is directly related to their craving for public attention. A 14-15 year old sent nudes to her crush, who in turn sent it to a few more people. One of those people was a girl who hated the girl who sent to nudes so she somehow got it out to three schools in the district. She ended up killing herself because everyone was calling her whore 'n shit.

Whereas, I can recall several most stories of deaths related to drug abuse, cartels, pharmacy robberies, etc.

 

Opiates.

 

Good addictions can turn into good ones, Bad can turn into Good. Lifes really strange when you actually sit and think about it.

 

I have to disagree with you OP. However, I'm having trouble determining the worst possible addiction. Perhaps, hard drugs. I've see and heard some horrible stories. I don't know.

 

probably like meth or something. meth makes you feel like shit after and it was obvious why people did it again. i cant really say first hand about anything else. i do watch porn a lot though like Gohan said. I think my girlfriend is an alcoholic, so that could be hard too,

 

I'm not talking about mortality rates. I'm saying that so many people are hooked on it and you see it every day. Its everywhere and I don't think I've ever seen anybody "stop" once they start trying to "fit in".

 

I'll go along with Gohan and say internet pornography. As it takes up 30 minutes of my time everyday *winks*

The second would be opiates and the third addiction to lying.

 

Meth is pretty bad, but people can still function and go throughout their days when they're on it. It does do the job, so I can see how easy it is to get addicted. As far as long term addiction, the effects from it are probably the worst. I know people who have been doing it for 30+ years and it's really messed them up physically and mentally. While you're on it you can't sleep or eat and you just don't give a shit about anything. Plus a little bit goes a long ways if you're smoking or shooting. Though you can completely kill a comedown from meth by taking a benzo and withdrawals from it really aren't as bad as you'd think and don't last too long. Opiates are definitely the worst drug addiction overall and the withdrawals are horrific. Benzos are probably right behind.

Pornography is definitely hard to beat, but it's only a mental addiction so it's really not that bad and certainly not the worst.

 

Pornography isn't a hard addiction to overcome.. find a girlfriend and you're set. Then you just have to worry about getting addicted to sex.

 

I would say meth is the worst addiction because after doing it for so much time, you completely lose the ability to feel pleasure. With other addictions, you can at least return close to normal. Meth users will always need meth to feel pleasure.

 

Hmm so you think the biggest addiction is psychological as opposed to a physical addiction? Interesting, never thought about that too intensely.

I would say the internet is the biggest addiction. Pretty much every one in a first world country uses it and without it a lot of people are jobless and millions of people loose their hobbies.

 

Facebook. It kills your time. But you can't run away from it...
