To everyone who doesn't like the EoC I was a fellow avid hater until 3 days ago when I spent 3 hours dying. After that I began to understand the system. I suggest to those who don't like it, go through the combat academy in lumby. Then ACTUALLY try pking for a good amount of time. It grows on you, I love the update now..

Bleed damage over time effects, stuns, threshold abilities, and Ultimates all give REAL amazing strategy to the game, it's no longer 100% random, there is still some luck involved, but a LOT more skill. Honestly not that hard though.

 

how will the xp rates for combat be effected? Slower, faster? Will afk'ing become impossible?

From what I've heard, we'll hit higher but exp will be altered, so technically still the same rates. Afk'ing will be possible, but using abilities gives a better exp rate.

There is an ability you can use which simply boosts your attacks strength for a while which is comparable to the current combat system.
