The guy from Venezuela

Hello, I'm Luis from Venezuela, I'm a former modern languages student (I had to quit college) because I did not had enough money to live on a different city, and my grandma got sick and I had to spent all my savings helping her, my mom is kind of sick too, so she can't handle all the pressure so I came back home to help
This is me:

So why I'm talking about my situation, why do I say all the time I'm from Venezuela?

here's a brief explanation a litle bit outdated of what's going on:

Because years ago I lived in a country that used to be awesome, where everyone was happy, and if you had a job, were a nice person you could live your whole life in venezuela just fine.

So what is happening now?

The goverment started by Hugo Chavez (a socialist one) in 1999 went out of control. Why? Mostly because they practically stole all the money from Venezuela when they had the "Oil Bonanza" where a barrel of oil costed 140$ now it cost lower than 40$
So what happened? the government could not maintain the lie, we had social services called "missions" who gave help to the most poor people, health care, cheaper food, cheaper medicine etc cheaper clothing, cheaper cars, etc It all sounds like an utopia right? well that's the utopia of the communism. This did not work from the begging. Why? because they imported everything from outside Venezuela and started to impose ridiculous exchange prices regarding the dollar, and imposing ridiculous prices of products withing the local production, like one example is that producing 1kilo of rice, costed around 20 cents to produce but the government made people/enterprises/factories sell their produced rice at 18 cents. so they were losing money. What happened? The government started to expropriate the factories, enterprises who refused to sell at those ridiculous rates. and what happened next? everything went wrong, the people who produced good started left the country because they did not had any guaranties that this situation was going to change. I'm not even mention all the corruption that has been going on in the country since 2005, but this is a rough Idea. What happened is that we have a country that used to produce goods, and now we dont, and everything is imported from outside, but since the oil prices are low, the goverment is not having the same power to buy so we have had goods, medicine, food, shortages.

The government of Venezuela, and most of its people inside it, have made fortunes with this crazy exchange rates with all of this corruption that has been going on while the venezuelan people starve, die, dont have confort etc. everything has gone crazy, we have 3 cities with the most crime in latin america on the top 10. people die everyday by not being able to get food, nor able to get medicine, or just shot to dead due the insecurity.

Right now, minimun wage is 45$ a month, and In order to buy enough food for a month for a family you need around 200$ We earn 45.000 bolivares my currency and in order for you to get dollars you have to buy them from someone else at a black market rate which it is 1025 bolivares per dollar right now, you can check it if you want at www.dolartoday.com So, what does this mean? that every member of the family has to work to be able to eat.

My particular case is that I cant find any blood pressure pills nor any other related medicine for her kidneys, heart etc for my grandma because there's no production of it in Venezuela, I have to buy it from outside using Dollars, and dollars are near to imposible to get in the country. and I cant be nor my family cant be every day on a line waiting for their "humanitary help" which is the litle amount of food we can receive at fixed prices, for chist sakes, she's 80 and my mom is 52 and going sick everyday they cannot work, and I'm trying to do my best so they can have a peaceful life as long as they live


This is a picture from my family and friends, at my mom's birthday I'm the only man in charge my dad died, he was shot in a robbery in his lands 11 years ago. Thats me on the right, my girlfriend with her brown swater next to me, my aunt anita with her glasses at the right side. And right next to my girlfriend there's my beloved grandma "La nonna" Maddalena, she was born in Italy and came to this country when she was 18 years old, got married had kids, work hard in her own restaurant, my grandpa who passed away 14 years ago, had lands, worked hard etc

Since a year ago, my grandma had a kidney failure and almost died, and I had to sell my bass guitar and some other stuff to get her medical care, I decided that I did not wanted them to die, in this shitty country My nona specially is the most kind person you'll ever meet in your life, even If we dont have anything in our fridges, house etc, she will offer you something, even an story from her youth and everyone loves to hear from her, I just dont want her to die in poverty, desperate for help nor anything, she doesnt deserve that.

Fuck, im crying as i'm writing this.

What I decided to do Is that I hard to earn somehow money from outside venezuela using the internet. I started to use craiglist to get small jobs, translating stuff from english to spanish or french to spanish It was hard work but it payed off, suddenly I discovered Runescape (I had played the game in 2006) but I saw there's was a way to start to make money in here, So I started to play again, etc, and every bit of gold I had I sold it to Arcus Gold (Thank you guys) you were the ones who led me to discover Sythe and it's community and also paid for my gold and made me had enough money to pay for my food and my grandma's medicines.

Since I started here like 8 months ago I've had ups and downs.

Today I got scammed for 50$

I dont want this to happen anymore, because maybe 50$ is nothing for you, but 50$ for me, is practically my life.

I have had awesome conversations, and meet funny people in here, I want to remain in here and keep on working, trading, earning some money, and in the future leave this shithole with my family so they can rest and I can provide them with the life they deserve.

Just remember take that negative and make it into a positive. Did you get a part of his donations given to you? or did he scam multiple people.

Karma always comes round, meaning good and bad; so that dude will get his comeuppance, i.e. he will lose out for doing that to you, and for you being the kind soul that you are I'm sure God is looking down on you and soon blessings will just come your way

Stay safe in the trades you do on site, and just live every day as happy as you were in the picture you posted in the Summer Spirit competition.. Even when times are bad, there will always be that spark around the corner waiting to just sparkle off and make you smile, laugh and enjoy. Stay true and blessed. Hope everything works out with your family, la nonna and ya mummy their health and all. Hopefully one day you can do great things for your family and set up a good life for them and for you and your girlfriend. It's a shame to hear about what has happened to Venezuela. I hope it can get better in future.

Also remember you can learn online, you don't need money to learn. I've learnt a lot from being online in my years, sometime even more from studying law in University. You never know what sort of people and diverse communities you can be apart of and you can learn from those people. Especially on a site like this where there are a multitude of different levels of education whether it be in modern languages by just knowing people from different countries in Europe or around the globe, to technical wizzes and all of that higher extended learning.

Regarding those donations you mention, I really don't know anything about it.
The guy just scam quitted and I was foolish enough to not see what he was doing, at least It was only 50$ and not much more. I feel bad about the other victims
