The Grand Exchange, account interaction?

Well, we all know Jagex is planning on relasing the Grand Exchange, basically one trading post that connects all the worlds together.

Simple question, do you think Jagex will finally drop their rule of no two accounts owned by the same person can interact, and let them do so, or do you think the Grand Exchange won't change any aspect of Rule 8(Multiple Logging-In)?

Personally, I think we are going to see some drastic changes by Jagex, which I could hardly call anything we could imagine.

Yes, but think about it, unless Jagex sets a limit on every single item in the game, this would by far be the easiest and least detectable way to real life trade, or get around rule 8.

But you never know, knowing Jagex with the 3,000 GP staking cap. They'll probably make a 5,000 GP trading cap...

I don't think it will change any aspect of rule 8 because the Grand Exchange will still not directly allow you to transfer between accounts. If you put something in cheap, it is more than likely that someone else will buy it before you get it on your other account.

I still don't buy that the sole reason behind changing staking was to stop real life trading. If that was indeed their goal they would come up with a complete solution as opposed to this moronic diversion. All this did was anger thousands of players and cause real life traders to switch to drop trading, player killing, or direct trading for transferring items/cash.

I am still convinced that they have spent months plotting this new staking cap and that this was their ultimate solution to lower the prices of discontinued items and prevent constant inflation/deflation in the economy due to money changing hands so often and so quickly.

Players will get rich instantly a lot less often, this will only occur from rare treasure trail rewards or monster drops. Less rich players = less demand for the rares = price drops.

Also, money will not change hands like it used to daily (more stable economy). Everyone's net worth will be relatively stable except for when you blow a bundle on skills. This stability means that on a day-to-day basis it will be the same people that can afford rares and the demand will not change/increase so rare's prices will drop until they hit some sort of stability that is in accordance with the way the economy is.

The only new demand for rares will be from the lucky few that got rare rewards/drops and others that miraculously skilled enough to obtain that much wealth.

As to the others. It could be very easy to transfer items between accounts, without ever getting looked at.

Say, I put up an item such as a Dragon Chainbody, or another item that changes greatly in a short amount of time. I could easily bid 5 or 10M more than it's actually worth, therefore transferring over 5-10M. You could do more money with other items, etc.

The only way Jagex could stop this would be to put a price on all items, and the highest you could bid for them, but in some cases, that could either gain players a lot of money, or lose players a lot of money because Jagex stated that the Grand Exchange would fluctuate or basically act like the Stock Exchange of real life.

An excellent point, I admit I was thinking too narrow-minded and missed this.

It's all quite mind-boggling what they are doing so the next week or two will really make or break their popularity with their clientele.

Yes, see in a way I almost think the Grand Exchange will take what staking was over, in a sense.

Staking, high risks, you can lose a lot very fast, you can gain a lot very fast. If the Grand Exchange will be like the Stock Market, which will fluctuate. How does Jagex plan on updating the prices of each item regularly enough to keep them accurate. If they do put limits on things, if they don't update a particular item, high money could be made, or huge money could be loss.

In a way, I think since Jagex did kill staking, they are almost reimplementing it back into the game with next week's update.

Maybe Jagex isn't as dumb as we all think...who knows.

They don't have to.
They can implement a system into TGE that can "automaticaly set" that "player value" they're talking about, when refering to items given value by calculating the medium price of that item as listed by sellers (saying for ex. d chains will be placed on the market with values ranging from 10M-12M, that means the "player value" of this item will be 11M).
Of course this is just a rudimentary aproach, they can fine tune it (there can be cases when really rare items (armadyl GS) won't be on the markets so they will have to set a determined value for that, themselves), but I think that would be the case.


And yes, I'm pretty sure they will get rid of right click trade option once the Grand Exchange will be out :|

All i know is that not many people are happy about the 3k staking cap. Alot of people quit after Pest controll was changed, I bet you alot of ppl will quit now that staking is basicly gone... If jagex puts too many rules in Rs there wont be as many people playing, becuase lets face it. No everyone wants to chop magics all day long to make a bit of gp.

Oh and about the topic of Rl trading with item exchange... what prices and what items you set would be easy to record.. So if theres anything suspicious like someone selling it for 5k then obviously they'll check it out. Alos it'd be really risky to put something up in there and then change accounts etc.

Jagex has made a price for every item in the game. I was at the release of duel arena.. And a jmod said that the staking prices where based on the new Grand Exchange prices.. What i was thinking.. Was to buy alot of stuff that will be worth more when grand exchange comes out.

Because now that they have released the new duel arena first. We can check prices on stuff by using the stake screen.

I have found out that nats will be 310 gp (Yay!) and Pure ess will be 72 gp (Yay again!).

Dds will be 51,200 gp. And santa will be 23,475,000 gp.

So if you find something that will gain in price, you can buy it, and sell it when grand exchange comes. I don't you will be able to make TOO much money on it. But it would be a little gain.

Yes, everything has a fixed price. At least thats what everything is pointing against.

I think the best method to give money for an account/pin/money sale now is getting killed for it.

But, offcourse im not 100% sure about this. You might be able to fix your own price. Or just set an item for sale and people make an offer for it and if you see an offer that fits you, you press "Sell". But yet again. Jagex said "You might, for example, go to the Exchange and put a full Barrows set up for sale - then, playing Skullball in Canifis, you might get a message telling you that they have sold and that you can go to the nearest bank to receive payment!" so im standing pretty strong on the fixed value theory.

They have stated you WILL be able to set your own value when selling your items but of course the pricing of your item will decide whether or not you sell it.

They have also stated that players will be permitted to BID on your item so if no one is willing to pay the price that you set, you might find an offer that you still find reasonable and are willing to accept.

I think that this Great Exchange update has extreme potential IF they don't remove the usual Right-Click Trading Option AND IF they don't fuck this up like they seem to fuck up everything nowadays.
