The giftcard market and how does it work?

I'm hoping someone can explain how the exchange works. Do people usually sell the physical card? Also can't people just use the code and sell the physical card? Please explain, thanks ahead of time.

Usually the buyer pays for the code that is listed on the card, and not the physical card itself.

People buy the code, and activate it instantly. This means they have got it, and there is no risk of the other party using it. Then, with iTunes you transfer the credit to people's accounts when they buy, so it makes easy profit (if you can find buyers)
